Texas Rep-elect Dan Crenshaw’s job as a congressmen hasn’t even started yet, but he’s already had momentous run-ins with the media, all of which saw him coming out on top.

His most recent appearance came on Sunday’s Face the Nation on CBS, where Crenshaw was put against a panel of leftists who were, once again, complaining about how President Donald Trump treats the press and how he was undermining our Democracy.

Asked to respond, Crenshaw smiled and asked what exactly it was he was undermining.

“What is he undermining exactly?” asked Crenshaw. “What Democratic freedoms have been undermined? We just had an election where we switched power in the House. Democracy is at work. People are voting in record numbers.”

Crenshaw asked for particular examples of how Trump was undermining Democracy, noting that if they’re worth criticizing then he’s more than willing to do so, but that his fellow panelists were being far too nebulous.

The panel responded all at once, claiming Trump was interfering with the freedom of the press.

Crenshaw noted that former President Barack Obama had various journalists under investigation, but Trump hasn’t had a single one investigated. Of course, one of the panelists brought up the case of CNN reporter Jim Acosta, and that many networks filed lawsuits in order to make sure Acosta could resume his spot.

Crenshaw reminded them that this was one reporter who had his press pass revoked because he was being disruptive.

“I would argue that our president is consistently disruptive…and I would argue that he treats [the press] with disrespect,” said Rep.-elect Chrissy Houlahan (D-Penn.).

Crenshaw, a veteran who had lost an eye to an IED in 2012, rebutted without mincing words.

“I’ve literally been attacked. Let’s chose our words carefully,” Crenshaw replied.

Houlahan responded that Trump was attacking the press with words, prompting Crenshaw to ask a very good question.

“Okay, so why can’t he speak – why is he not allowed to use his own language and freedom of speech?” asked Crenshaw.

Houlahan countered by saying that Crenshaw himself said that leaders should lead by example, to which Crenshaw agreed, but there’s a difference between claiming Trump is attacking the freedom of the press and claiming Trump’s rhetoric is inflammatory.

“Style is one thing,” said Crenshaw. “If you want to criticize style, I’m with you, but to say that it’s an attack on the freedom of the press? That is a very bold statement.”
