You know when grandma blurts out something racist but doesn’t understand that what she said was racist at all?
Grandma just did it.
Failed Democratic candidate for president Hillary Clinton was chatting with Recode’s Kara Swisher during an event in New York City on Friday when they got onto the subject of Eric Holder’s phrase about kicking the right. Swisher mistakenly said that the quote came from New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, prompting Clinton to correct her.
Then Clinton dropped the racist joke.
“I know they all look alike,” said Clinton.

Was it just a joke about confusing two black people that relied on an old joke about stereotypes? Very likely. However, for someone who is supposedly still a figurehead within the Democratic party, this is an awfully tone-deaf joke. Imagine if a Republican had something of this nature. Not only would the press be frothing out the mouth in rage, but Clinton would also be tweeting out platitudes from the highest horse she could find.
It’s likely this will get swept under the rug or dismissed as a bad joke Clinton tried to pull off. Remember, she’s a high ranking Democrat (at least figuratively), so any social sin will be ignored as much as possible.
