The swelling migrant caravan marching toward the United States border just in time for midterm elections can be defined more by the message attached to it than the people marching in it.

Of all the messages it brings, however, one that is pervasive among the left is that the entire caravan is a living breathing talking point about the right’s seemingly uncaring view of those in need. Logistical issues with large amounts of illegal immigrants (or any amount for that matter) entering the United States be damned. According to people who believe the U.S. should open their arms to unfettered immigration, those opposed to it for any reason are just hateful, bigoted, selfish people.

Of course, many of those people who shame others for opposing illegal immigration are the same who are sheltered from the fallout caused by it.

Hollywood celebrities and politicians make a huge stink about welcoming immigrants in need who come here for a better life, yet I don’t see one of them opening up their own homes and sharing their expansive property and resources with the immigrants.

Take, for instance, horror writer Stephen King, who chastised Christians and right-wingers for defending the fact that we were for upholding the nation’s laws and not allowing a massive amount of undocumented families into the U.S. Sadly, children were caught in the political crossfire and were detained in McAllen, Texas. The right was in support of this, as illegal immigration should be stopped. Of course, King and the left used the opportunity to bash Republicans for being, among other things, uncaring and Un-Christian.

I’d be remiss not to mention that while King was on his high horse, attempting to paint Christians as uncaring, Glenn Beck and Dana Loesch were taking volunteers down to McAllen to hand out supplies and toys for the children. However, the main point here is that King decided to take this virtuous stance from the safety and seclusion of his gated mansion all the way on the other side of the country, in Maine.

King is hardly alone.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) likes to shame Christians and the right for not embracing illegal immigrants more, yet Pelosi owns multiple multi-million dollar homes where she could easily shelter many illegal immigrants. She doesn’t. In fact, you’ll find Pelosi’s residences the cream of the crop, as she lives (or lived) in places like Presidio Terrace and Pacific Heights, which keep themselves nice and secluded from the poorer and needy residents of San Francisco, 240,000 of them being illegal immigrants, and that count was back in 2014.

Samantha Bee, who I’m told is a comedian — though I’ve yet to see that claim backed up by evidence — called Ivanka Trump a “feckless c*nt” over her father’s handling of children at the border. Try to introduce any poor, non-white children into Bee’s Upper West Side, staggeringly white neighborhood and subsequent schools in New York, and Bee and her husband will launch into action to stop you.

George Clooney loves refugees and thinks the wall is inhumane and horrible! Nevermind that he fled his home in Sonning, England and moved behind his walled mansion in Studio City, California, after refugees had moved into the area and became a security issue. He did this while praising German Chancellor Angela Merkel for opening up the borders of Germany for refugees to pour into.

The list goes on, but any celebrity or politician who chides Americans for so much as raising logistical issues with illegal immigration is likely either far removed from the problem, and/or isn’t doing much to shelter or provide for the illegal immigrants out of their own wallets. Other people’s money is good for that.

The left provides moral outrage and virtue signaling, and everybody else has to provide the resources.

It’s easy for the left to appear generous when they’re offering up other people’s money and property. They don’t want to hear how unfettered immigration causes an increase in crime, entitlement problems, homelessness, starvation, disease, and more. They want to feel good about opening up the borders to whoever can make it here. That some immigrants are forced or persuaded into lives of crime or sexual slavery due to their not-at-all-improved economic situation matters little. That it causes more problems than it solves isn’t even a blip on the radar.

What matters is that the optics that make them look virtuous and moral are there. Meanwhile, people are murdered, drugs are distributed, and women are bought and sold in places many of these bleeding hearts on the left will never see, and would not dare walk into.
