Dick’s Sporting Goods has been further digging itself into something of a PR nightmare as of late, and their recent actions have only made it made it worse as now it has earned the ire of outdoor sporting goods supplier, Mossberg.

O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc. announced on Wednesday that they will now discontinue any association with Dick’s Sporting Goods after it was discovered that Dick’s hired three Washington, D.C., lobbyists to push for further gun control according to Fox News:

“It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control,” Mossberg & Sons CEO Iver Mossberg wrote in a press release. “Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ recent anti-Second Amendment actions.”

To rub some salt in the wound, Mossberg went so far as to encourage America to go shop at one of the thousands of pro-Second Amendment firearm retailers over Dick’s.

Dick’s has been on a downhill path since their CEO, Edward Stack, penned an op-ed in the Washington Post in favor of gun control and limiting the rights of American citizens in terms of gun ownership. Since then, the store has been bleeding money as Americans have turned away from the sporting goods store.

With Mossberg now depriving it of their popular product, and the company encouraging others to shop elsewhere, Dick’s may find itself further drowning in its own bad politics.
