DREAMers typically lean hard left, or at least the loudest among them do, but one DREAMer is ripping the curtain so you can see the man behind it, and calling out those who are using him and his fellow DREAMers for political gain.
Hilario Yanez, going by “Eli,” was brought to the United States from Mexico when he was young. According to him, Democratic leadership is using him and his fellow DREAMers in order to seem like a moral party. However, as Eli points out, the Democrats have sat on their hands and done nothing about this issue previously. Now that the ball is in the Republican’s court, it’s suddenly a huge deal.
Yanez began by thanking the Trump administration for its efforts in reforming immigration law and strengthening border security. Yanez said that the U.S. needs to move away from the “outdated” lottery system the U.S. currently has and should move into more of a skills-based selection process.
Yanez professed his respect and love for the nation and seems very unhappy at how the Democrats don’t seem to respect people like him. According to Yanez, Democratic leadership has used him and his fellow DREAMers as “pawns,” and has held the American people and military hostage over the issue.
He also points out that Democrats had plenty of time when they owned all three branches of government in 2008-2011, yet did absolutely nothing about the situation of DREAMers. Yanez says he’s quite “frustrated” with them.

DREAMers of all stripes don’t seem to be happy with Democratic leadership, particularly that of Nancy Pelosi. In September last year, she was shouted down by pro-amnesty activists who stormed a press conference she was holding, forcing her to run away. Pelosi has gone so far as to call DREAMers her “constituency” in order to get back on their good side.
In the meantime, unlike Yanez, DREAMers have been threatening to leave the U.S. should a deal on DACA not be reached, which is kind of the point.
