MSNBC’s Chris Matthews is a gift to the world if you’re a glass-half-full kind of person. Every other phrase out of his mouth is just hilarious.

Take, for instance, Matthews’ latest comments about the Democratic party’s “purity.”

During an interview on Matthews’ show “Hardball” with guest Jason Johnson, a politics editor for TheRoot.com, Matthews mentioned that due to Sens. Franken and Conyers resigning in the face of mounting allegations of sexual misconduct, the Democratic party is guilty of being “too pure.”

“Do you think the American public are now going to see the difference between the two parties?” Matthews asked.

“I don’t know how you can avoid the education in this. The worst you can say about Democrats is they’re too pure,” he later continued.

“That’s a stupid thing to say, but that’s the worst thing you can say about them, these guys set too high a standard for public office.”

I’ll remind Matthews that the guys who “set too high a standard for public office” are being ousted because they sexually assaulted women.

This is also the party that for years did its level best to make their chief serial sexual assaulter, Bill Clinton, look like the nation’s paragon of goodness in the face of multiple women coming forward saying they had been assaulted or worse

This is the party of Hillary Clinton, who among a slew of completely impure actions of her own, silenced these same women. This same party then held her up as some sort of hero throughout the 2016 elections.

Only now that Clinton lost is it okay for them to even come close to the chopping block?

Matthews’ words are even funnier given Johnson’s reply to him.

“I think this is wonderful because it is a standard that we should all be following,” Johnson said.

Never change, Democrats.
