Democrat Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi is known for her ability to exaggerate or even flat out lie in order to scare people away from whatever Republicans are doing — she recently called the Republican tax bill “apocalyptic” — but this latest attempt to frighten Americans takes the cake.

Angry over the House’s passage of Concealed Carry Reciprocity, Nancy Pelosi took to Twitter and voiced raged like a rat in a cage against Republicans, saying they invited domestic abusers, and criminals to safely harm others.

In her quest to make people afraid of reciprocity, Pelosi has done two things that don’t at all make her look good.

For one, the California lawmaker either doesn’t understand how our nation’s gun laws work, or she does know and is purposely lying about them in order to scare people.

Convicted felons can’t even buy guns under federal law, much less get a concealed carry license. Convicted criminals wouldn’t get past the NCIC check.

What’s worse is that while Pelosi either doesn’t know or is purposely dismissing federal laws, she also doesn’t seem to know — or is purposefully misleading people — about the firearm laws in her own state of California.

According to California law, any person convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors is prohibited from buying or carrying a firearm. This also includes anyone with a restraining order against them:

“Any person who is subject to a temporary restraining order or an injunction issued pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure sections 527.6 or 527.8, a protective order as defined in Family Code section 6218, a protective order issued pursuant to Penal Code sections 136.2 or 646.91, or a protective order issued pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code section 15657.03.”

Again, either Pelosi doesn’t know the firearm laws in her own state, or the federal government, or she does know them and is purposely lying in order to scare Americans into resisting the expansion of their own rights.

Furthermore, Pelosi is mischaracterizing legal conceal carry owners so blatantly that if I was a Democrat, I’d be distancing myself from her comments in the politest way possible.

Licensed gun owners, particularly those of the conceal carry variety, are the most law-abiding people in America, committing fewer crimes than even the police. In fact, the crime rate among concealed carry license holders is so low in Texas, that they even commit less gun crime than all of Britain, where guns are banned.

Pelosi has a lot of nerve, or a lot of stupid, or both.
