There’s no coming back now.

When even your own wife denounces your comments as abhorrent and offensive, there’s no defense that anyone can raise to make the situation better.

Melania Trump, Donald Trump’s wife and would be First Lady, has denounced Trump’s comments as unacceptable in an email sent out from the campaign. I don’t blame her. These comments were made as she was pregnant with his child.

When even the wife of the candidate cannot stomach the disgusting things he said, there is no more wiggle room for a defense. Given, Melania is sticking by her husband, but regardless, this is akin to the Queen check-mating her own King in front of all his pawns. Whatever attempt – and an official attempt it was by the way – made to save face here has failed miserably, and only served to add heat to the fire.

The wheels aren’t coming off the Trump campaign at this point. They’re off.
