There have been quite a few examples of the press disregarding facts recently. This itself is not so surprising, but the fact that it is seen from the major sources is…well, not at all surprising either. But it still needs to be called out.
At CNN, they have been telling us that their international correspondent, Fred Pleitgen, was free and clear to report as he saw fit when he was permitted inside Iran. He explained that he had only been assigned a translator, not any officials who guided him to approved locations. But a reporter from Sky News, who went through the same process last year, explains that it was in fact an official handler controlling who he could speak to.
We then look at the New York Times as they try to recalibrate an incident with ICE agents at the San Francisco International Airport. After a passenger was detained, the Times gave a rendition that lacked details, which is rather revealing. Because the paper touted having DHS paperwork of the arrest, meaning they withheld the pertinent details.
Next, there is a case of CNN's Jake Tapper delivering a report on a Republican candidate in Texas that is deeply slanted. Tapper details that this man bragged about buying the book “Mein Kampf,” based on his stating such on a podcast. But Jake eliminated the details where he noted he did so to learn and mock the contents, as he explained in the very same show. One host even predicted what would take place, stating that the candidate's comments would be selectively edited and used against him in the press – exactly as Tapper was doing.
Then we look into the shooting of the Loyola University co-ed recently killed by an illegal alien, and see the newspaper from that school apologizing after reporting on her murder. It actually apologized for possibly insulting the killer.
Now, crack one open and savor some outmoded media malpractice and misinformation.
