The Democrat standard of ‘It’s only wrong when THEY do it’ is certainly in play.
During Thursday night’s lightly regarded Democratic Presidential debate social media sparked up with thoughts and searches regarding ‘’wine caves’’. This resulted from a testy exchange instigated by Liz Warren when she went after Pete Buttigieg for holding a fundraiser at a winery owned by one donor.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren: "Billionaires in wine caves should not pick the next president of the United States."

It was a severe miscalculation on her part, both for how she was shot down very quickly by Mayor Pete, but also now for what has been revealed about her own fundraising past. In the exchange Warren brought up a recent fundraiser by vintners Craig and Kathryn Hall. There was a supposition of wrongdoing in her comment, from the donors being billionaires to the event being a closed-door affair.
It seems a ridiculous charge to make, as most candidates pander to the wealthy for donations, but Warren ensnared herself. ‘’We made the decision many years ago that rich people in smoke-filled rooms would not pick the next president of the United States — Billionaires in wine caves should not pick the next president of the United States.” Buttigieg was having none of it.
He shot immediately back at Warren. He first noted that he was the only person on the stage who was not a millionaire, or billionaire. ‘’This is the problem with issuing purity tests you yourself cannot pass.’’ Then added, ‘’Senator, your net worth is one hundred times mine.’ Warren was frozen by this retort.
There are other ridiculous results to her comment. For one, the Halls are longtime Democrat party donors. To imply they are suddenly a nefarious dark money source, only because they are backing another candidate basically indicts the Democrat party. But Mayor Pete had another salient point. He noted that Warren’s campaign was launched by the very big-ticket fundraisers she now denounces. It gets better.
In her wine cave critique Warren noted attendees of the Buttigieg event were granted with $900 bottles of wine. The Associated Press reported that just recently, in June 2018, Warren was in Boston for a fundraiser with wealthy donors. That took place at — a winery. And further, guests at the event received a souvenir bottle of wine if they donated $1,000.
And it gets even better.
Warren’s fundraiser was at the exact same location.

One has to wonder how she could either forget this had transpired, or think no one would have checked into this detail as it happened so recently. Whichever is the case, she needed to stick a cork in her accusation.
