Today, we meet Congressman Cory Mills, the FL-7 district representative who has been in office since 2023. A former U.S. Army sniper, he now heads the House Foreign Affairs Committee's subcommittee for Oversight and Intelligence. Cory Mills was born on July 13, 1980, in Winter Haven, Florida, to Teresa and Christopher Mills, though he was mostly raised by his grandparents.
Mills earned an Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts and sciences from Florida State College at Jacksonville, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences and a Master of Arts in international relations and conflict resolution from American Military University.
I was impressed by his military service. He served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division from 1999 to 2003, providing support during the Kosovo War. After his military service, he became a military contractor. He co-founded PACEM Solutions International LLC, a consulting firm, and the following year, he founded PACEM Defense, a private security company. He is also a co-founder of ALS Less-Lethal Systems, which manufactures equipment for military and law enforcement clients.
In 2022, Mills ran for the House and won convincingly. Before taking office in September 2021, Cory evacuated a woman and her three children from Afghanistan during the American withdrawal. Initially, he planned to perform an airlift, but U.S. Central Command and the State Department denied the request, forcing him to evacuate the family by land.
Mills further demonstrated his commitment by leading the evacuation of 77 Americans out of Israel via neighboring Jordan in 2023. On Tuesday, October 10th, while reading a New York Post report about Silver Prout, an American trapped in Israel, Mills decided to take action. “I just immediately left DC and I just decided within an hour’s notice that I couldn’t sit there and do nothing anymore,” Mills said. "I campaigned on the fact that I wanted to be a statesman who acts – not a politician who talks." He added:
“I literally tried to do this from start to stop to make sure that they know, one, that they’re going to be taken care of and that they’re not left behind and not forgotten by their own government. I couldn’t care less what district they’re from, whether they can vote for me, whether they’re Democrat or Republican … these are Americans who wanted to get home.”
By Wednesday, October 11, he had successfully saved 77 Americans. Reflecting on his actions, Mills said, “I went in and was very thankful to be able to get, for the second time, by the way, I’ll just add helping the Biden administration, who has failed to do their job.” He further stated, “God put me exactly where I was supposed to be, which is to help these people as much as I can.” Remarkably, Mills accomplished this feat despite never having been to Israel before and while simultaneously participating in the process of voting for a Speaker of the House.

As noted, Mills now serves on the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee for Oversight and Intelligence. He also sits on the Armed Services Committee.
This man, by leading by example, embodies the type of leadership we need, especially during Donald Trump's second term as president. Cory Mills is our real-life Indiana Jones.
