One might ask why Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) hasn't been expelled from Congress, given she's charged with assaulting ICE agents while trying to storm a federal facility. That she did the deed on video makes it even worse, but Washington is a funny place, and for now, McIver is still allowed to grandstand from her position of power like everyone else.

On Tuesday, the Democrat finally got the moment she's been waiting for. During a hearing with Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, McIver launched into a deranged tirade, demanding to know whether he was "going to hell" because he supposedly has "so much blood" on his hands."
Rep. LaMonica McIver asks Acting ICE Director Lyons:

"How do you think Judgement Day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?"
Lyons: "I'm not going to entertain that question."
"Of course not. Do you think you're going to hell?"

MCIVER: Mr. Lyons, do you consider yourself a religious man
LYONS: Yes mam.
MCIVER: Oh, yes. Okay. Well, how do you think judgment day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?
LYONS: I'm not going to entertain that question.
MCIVER: Oh, okay. Of course, not. Do you think you're going to hell, Mr. Lyons?
LYONS: I'm not going to entertain that.
MCIVER: Of course, not. How many government...
GARBARINO: The gentle lady will suspend, the gentle lady will suspend
MCIVER: Chairman
GARBARINO: The gentle lady, as I said, the issues we are debating here are important to ones that members feel deeply about. While vigorous disagreement is part of the legislative process, members are reminded that we must adhere to established standards of decorum and debate. The witnesses are here voluntarily, and I will continue to remind members that while oversight is important, aggressively attacking those witnesses personally is inappropriate and not in keeping with the traditions of our committee.
MCIVER: Mr. Chairman, I'm just asking a question. You guys are always talking about religion here and the Bible. I mean, it's okay for me to ask a question, right?
Why can't our politicians just be normal? You have lunatics everywhere, but they seem to be especially prominent in Congress. It's as if being mentally unstable with the emotional maturity of a small child is a requirement to be a member of the House.
It goes without saying, but McIver is not the authority on "judgment day," nor is she in any position to preach morality to someone else in such a condescending and arrogant fashion. Asking a law enforcement official if they are going to hell while falsely accusing them of murdering people is ridiculous behavior, not fit for a college debate club, much less someone who represents the American government.
Despite McIver's delusions, ICE has not murdered anyone as she insinuates. The only ICE-involved shooting death that has occurred at various protests around the country involved a woman obstructing an operation and then hitting an agent with her car. Meanwhile, McIver and the rest of her caucus members have been doing everything they can to stoke chaos and violence toward people just trying to enforce immigration laws enacted by the very institution they serve in.
As to Republican Rep. Andrew Garbarino (NY-02), who I'm not really familiar with, he should not have let McIver run over him in the manner she did. When he, as the chairman, gave his warning about decorum, she sarcastically dismissed him and was allowed to continue. That shouldn't happen. She's under criminal indictment for an act caught on video. She has no business being allowed to speak at all during hearings, and it's shameful that Republicans apparently made a deal to save her from censure while never even entertaining expelling her as she deserved.
