What direction is the Democratic Party headed? One only needs to look at who is headlining it to answer that question, and one of the freshest faces is Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30). Despite being in office for less than four years, she has skyrocketed in notoriety through a series of antics and a coordinated media blitz. The fact that such a gambit works says nothing good about Washington.
As RedState reported, Crockett recently went to bat for Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI), who was revealed to have colluded with Jeffrey Epstein to influence a committee hearing. Plaskett also took tens of thousands of dollars from the now-deceased sex trafficker, refusing to return it like other politicians did. Crockett responded by going on the House floor and claiming Republicans also took money from Jeffrey Epstein. In reality, she had her team Google donations, not realizing the receipts in question correlated to different people with the same name.

Never one to back down, Crockett then went on CNN to explain that Plaskett was simply responding to the concerns of a constituent while suggesting she was actually on some secret mission to obtain information from Epstein. Now, she's released yet another response to the scandal, this one somehow even dumber than the last. A fair warning that what you are about to hear wouldn't pass as basic English for a kindergartener, but again, this is where we are in our politics. These are the people who rule us.
Jasmine Crockett’s response to Jeffrey Epstein feeding Stacey Plaskett questions during a hearing:

“We all be sittin on our phones, and yes people be textin…. The audacity that you want to strip a black woman of her committee assignments…”

CROCKETT: Because I'm sorry, but like, we don't have ethical, like, rules that say that you can't receive text messages or that you can't respond to text messages, especially if somebody has a certain record, and you can't do it in committee. We all be sitting on our phones, and yes, people be textin. I mean, our staff text us, everybody text us. I remember when I had the bleach blonde situation, you know who was textin me? My pastor, okay. So let me be clear, there is no ethical violation, and so the idea or the audacity to decide that you want to strip a black woman of her committee assignment because she was texting with Epstein...
The rot in the Democratic Party runs so deep. Obviously, the Epstein situation is the biggest part of this discussion, but even Crockett's supposed inability (she's faking it) to speak properly is a tell. She went to expensive private schools and allegedly graduated from college and law school. Speaking in phrases like "people be textin" and "everybody text us" as a member of Congress is a power move. It's meant to spit on normalcy and basic adherence in favor of the radicalism she promotes, which goes well past her butchering of the English language.
I'd also ask if Crockett really believes this entire scandal is simply about Plaskett using her phone during a hearing, but we all know she doesn't believe that. The Texas congresswoman spent months going on television talking about Epstein and trying to tie him to Republicans, only for her to immediately claim that colluding with him as late as 2019 is no big deal. The hypocrisy and lack of any moral anchor are disgusting to watch, as is Crockett's continual claim that any accountability for black women in Congress must be motivated by racism.
Every time I think our political moment can't get any worse, it does, and the Democratic Party is one of the driving forces. There is nothing that won't be destroyed or excused in the blind thirst for power. If that means apologizing for people who worked hand-in-glove with Epstein after he was known to be a predator, then that's what they'll do.
