When I wrote several days ago about the budding freak-out regarding the White House construction of a new privately-funded ballroom, I figured it was such a stupid story that it couldn't possibly last more than 48 hours. Boy, was I wrong.
I believe we are now on day four of East Wing-gate, with Democrats losing their minds. Everyone from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to Hillary Clinton has chimed in, believing they've got a winning issue on their hands. After all, what animates working-class Americans more than (checks notes)...whether a 20th-century-era office building is remodeled into a ballroom or not.

Yes, President Donald Trump doesn't want Americans to see a picture of a trackhoe tearing down part of a building in full view of the public. Clearly, he's trying to hide it.
Everything is so stupid, and that theme continued during Thursday's press briefing when CBS News reporter Weijia Jiang, who has a bit of a history, tried to claim that past presidents had never "demolished" anything to add onto the White House grounds. Let's just say the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, came prepared.

Karoline Leavitt OBLITERATES fake news reporter attacking Trump over White House construction by showing history of remodels:

“I have some photos here… This is 1950… What do you think that rubble is? How did that rubble get there?” 🤣

This is one of those videos you really have to watch because the body language is half of the comedic value, but in summary, Jiang snarkily asks if Trump believes he can demolish whatever he wants. In response, Leavitt pulls out a stack of pictures showing various remodels and additions to the White House grounds over the years, beginning in 1902. When she stops with the construction of the West Wing expansion in 1934, Jiang seems to think she's cornered Leavitt and states, "But that's not demolishing."
The press secretary then pulls out a picture from 1950, at which point Jiang walks further into the trap by asking, "Can he demolish anything he wants without oversight?" Leavitt smiles and responds by pointing at the picture and asking, "What do you think that rubble is? How did that rubble get there?" That was the end of that exchange, as Jiang quickly moved on to another subject.
I've seen some really stupid "scandals" over my years covering politics, but this may take the cake. Heck, President Harry S. Truman gutted the inside of the White House itself. All Trump is doing is building a ballroom off to the side so events don't have to be held in tents anymore, and he's doing it without taxpayer money. What's funny is that all these people crying a river right now will suddenly love the ballroom the moment a Democrat is president again and starts holding parties there. Watch.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
