California Attorney Julie Hamill became all of us on CNN on Friday after a truly incredible exchange with host Brianna Keilar. The argument at hand was over a high-school student named AB Hernandez, a "transgender" athlete who "identifies" as a female but is a male. The junior is currently set to compete in several competitions at the state championship on Saturday.
What made Hamill's appearance on CNN so noteworthy, though, was her dogged pursuit of the truth in the face of Keilar's attempted enforcement of transgender ideology. It was one of those rare moments on a mainstream press network where a guest didn't just roll over in the face of scrutiny over stating biological reality. A fair warning that you may find yourself feeling extremely satisfied after watching this.
.@hamill_law’s faces here are too much. She will not give this woman an inch. Nor should she. Watch! It’s amazing! pic.twitter.com/xdgACJhG7z

KEILAR: What would make this fair for her to compete, for those who are competing against her? What would that kind of structure in competition look like?
HAMILL: Who is her?
KEILAR: AB, AB...
HAMILL: Okay, AB Hernandez is a male who identifies as a female. What would be fair is to have Hernandez competing in the male category. It is not fair for the females competing to have to compete with a male.
KEILAR: Okay so, in Trump's federal funding threat, is that something that would hurt all student athletes who are assigned female at birth?
HAMILL: Would his federal funding threat hurt athletes?
KEILAR: If the money is taken away.
HAMILL: Right, so the law actually says that schools that do not abide Title IX or other federal laws can not receive federal funds. So that's not Trump's fault. The problem is with the state (crosstalk).
KEILAR: But you understand, Julie, you understand there's two views here on Title IX so in that regard, if you were to take away the funding as it pertains to trans athletes, not everyone agrees with you, I think we just have to be clear about that, if you are taking away the funds for athletes, student athletes in California, isn't that going to hurt all of them?
HAMILL: Taking away federal funds is going to hurt all California kids, which is why the State of California needs to comply with federal law.
There's more to come, but I want to stop there. What Keilar is doing is an attempted hostage taking of normal students who aren't suffering from mental delusions regarding their sex. The right answer, as Hamill notes after correcting the CNN host's misrepresentation of Hernandez, is for California to comply with federal law. The idea that they should get a free pass as long as they threaten to screw over everyone else is ridiculous.
KEILAR: So there are obviously clear benefits to playing sports, to competing in sports, so when you're looking at an athlete like AB Hernandez, what would you have her do so that she can benefit from sporting?
I'll get to Hamill's answer momentarily, but that question is just so manipulative. Keilar has already been given the answer earlier in the interview. If Hernandez would like to play sports, he can play in the boys' league where he belongs. Girls should not have to suffer, to fluff his mental illness, as sad as it is. Yet, Keilar wants to keep posing the same question as if it's some grand mystery.
At this point, Hamill drops the hammer on transgenderism and those who have abused Hernandez by facilitating his "transition."
HAMILL: I view AB Hernandez as the victim in this situation. I feel for him, and I feel that he has been lied to for his entire life, and it's probably very destabilizing and difficult for him right now to realize that what he has been told is not actually reality. He can not become a girl. What he can do is compete in the male category...
KEILAR: Julie, can we stick to sports? Let's stick to the sports. So you say compete in the male category or what?
Hamill goes on to explain that California also has the option of creating a "transgender" league if it wants to. What it doesn't have the right to do is destroy girls' sports by forcing them to compete against boys. At that point, Keilar tapped out and ended the interview.
All the praise in the world for Hamill speaking the hard truth to a CNN hack who has gotten way too comfortable having her priors confirmed. AB Hernandez is a male. He is not a girl. He can not become a girl. California can do without federal funding if it would like to place his delusions over the well-being of female athletes in the state.
