David Hogg and the Democrat Party's Dysfunction Explodes Into the Open

David Hogg is lashing out at the Democratic Party again. Of course, there's just one problem: He's the vice chair of it

The anti-gun grifter turned political activist was inexplicably elected to the leadership role in January, and things aren't exactly going smoothly. With Democrats facing record-low approval ratings, Hogg is looking for someone to blame, and he wants you to know that absolutely none of it is his fault.

The longer my tenure as a political commentator gets, the less patience I have for platitudinal nonsense like this. I will give Hogg credit, though. He's learning to play the game, and there's no bigger homerun on the left than mixing empty words with no accomplishments. The fact that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is now a legitimate presidential candidate provides more than enough evidence of that.

So what's Hogg ranting about? If you read through his thread, he's essentially calling for primary challengers, suggesting that he has his finger on the pulse of America while other Democrats are "asleep at the wheel."

Hogg is right that Democrats lack vision and the ability to present a coherent, effective message to voters. After getting wiped out in the 2024 election, there are no real leaders in the party, which is why laughable do-nothings like Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett are sucking up so much oxygen. But being able to point out a symptom of a problem doesn't mean you've diagnosed the disease.

Knowing what I know about Hogg's politics, his solution is to go further left. What he doesn't want to admit, though, is that going so far to the left is why Democrats are in the position they are currently in. Shockingly enough, open borders and more IRS agents aren't a popular platform. Which leads me to the corner the DNC has painted itself in.

The Democratic Party has long convinced itself that it can tame the alligator while reaping short-term benefits. That's how you end up with a left-wing imbecile who started a scam pillow company as vice chairThe alligator can't be tamed, though. As Hogg's thread shows, he and the rabid left won't be satisfied until they've burned everything to the ground and dedicated the ashes to the Sanders wing of the party. This is why it was such a stupid decision to give him a leadership role, and it's why the Democrat coalition is in such shambles.

There are too many people with diverging interests vying for power, and that's a recipe for disaster. Who exactly is the movement leader of the Democratic Party at this point? It’s not Joe Biden. It’s not Kamala Harris. Gavin Newsom has cratered recently. Tim Walz continues to float like a ferry for small crowds while no one listens to him. Do you see the problem? That vacuum is now being filled by lunatics like Hogg, and the results will be disastrous for Democrats. Unfortunately for them, it’s far too late to change course.

But hey, maybe I was right back when I covered Hogg’s ascension in the DNC. Maybe the Democratic Party really does want to die
