After celebrating the dismissal of charges against him in the Spring of 2023, Alec Baldwin has just been indicted by a New Mexico grand jury for the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins on the set of "Rust."

The controversial and politically active actor was holding a prop gun that was loaded with live rounds in 2021 when it fired, striking Hutchins and killing her. Baldwin claimed he never pulled the trigger, but later forensic analysis showed that the gun could not have gone off otherwise.

That was enough for the grand jury to decide Baldwin should be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

A grand jury in New Mexico indicted Alec Baldwin on Friday on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, reviving the criminal case against him in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer more than two years ago on the set of the film “Rust” when a gun he was rehearsing with went off, one of the prosecutors said.

Baldwin's behavior following the shooting likely didn't help his case. Instead of doing everything he could to help the family, he blamed others, dissembled about pulling the trigger, and played the victim. Had he taken responsibility initially, it's possible things never would have gotten this far.

How strong this prosecution is has yet to be seen. I would assume part of the case against him will be his role in producing the movie, painting him as negligent both with the gun itself and the safety standards on set.

This is a developing story.
