The days are continuing to fly by as the 2022 election approaches, and Democrats are becoming more and more unhinged. Some, including those in the White House, are already preparing their spin as the probable red wave approaches. Others, such as Jim Clyburn are melting down in other ways.
Clyburn recently appeared on Fox News Digital and jumped off the deep in a last-ditch effort to scare people into voting Democrat. After blaming Republicans for the bizarre attack on Paul Pelosi, an assertion not backed by current evidence, the House Majority Whip dropped this warning.

“This country is on track to repeat what happened in Germany when it was the greatest democracy going, when it elected a chancellor that then co-opted the media,” Clyburn told Fox News Digital on Thursday. “This past president called the press the enemy of the people. That is a bunch of crap. And that is what’s going on in this country.”
Right off the bat, Clyburn manages to completely mangle history in his assertion. Germany was not some thriving democracy one day only to be taken over by Adolf Hitler the next. In fact, Hitler was appointed chancellor in the midst of great internal turmoil in the country. He then used the threat of a civil war to seize further power via the so-called Enabling Act, which essentially gave him dictatorial powers under the guise of an emergency.
Now, let’s think about that for a minute. Which party has spent the last three years insisting that sweeping emergency powers be granted to politicians so they can “save” people from themselves? That would be Clyburn’s party, with the federal government still operating under a state of emergency for a virus that hasn’t been a major factor for most Americans since early 2021. That alone makes the congressman’s hysteria ironic at best.
Clyburn continued by insisting that it’s “different” when Democrats ruthlessly demonize Republicans as being a “threat” to “democracy.” He then downplayed inflation as a concern.
The president’s harsh rhetoric of Trump supporters is entirely different, according to Clyburn, because Biden is directing his attacks at a “philosophy” and not an individual.
When asked why Americans should vote to keep Democrats in control of Congress, despite record-high inflation and rising gas prices, Clyburn downplayed economic concerns.
“I think that people should be voting in their own self-interest. And their self-interest is much more than what you may or may not be paying for gas or a loaf of bread.”
Clyburn went on to suggest that the choice between Democrats and Republicans is whether to vote for democracy or autocracy, echoing President Biden’s Wednesday night speech.
To be clear, when Biden talks about “mega MAGA Republicans,” he’s not talking about philosophy. He is quite literally talking about individual people, a point driven home by the fact that the president has routinely broadened his definition to encompass essentially all GOP party members outside of Liz Cheney and maybe Larry Hogan.
As to the answer on inflation, it’d be hard to find a more tone-deaf response. Democrats have settled on this insane message that Americans should be fine with higher prices and a crushing economy in order to prioritize some nebulous, partisan protection of “democracy.” But all “democracy” means for a Democrat is holding onto power. They don’t actually respect the choice of the voters, otherwise, they wouldn’t gaslighting that the republic is going to end if they aren’t allowed to maintain control. That’s the logic of a tyrant, not someone who actually cares about “democracy.”
This entire schtick is just so tiring. Americans have real problems and they are going to vote based on those problems. They don’t care about yet another lecture on “election denial,” especially when Clyburn’s own party has a long history of dabbling in such. Asinine, offensive comparisons of the United States to Nazi Germany aren’t going to play well either.
