On Monday evening, the viral story of a 10-year-old girl who supposedly had to travel to Indiana to get an abortion after being raped was essentially debunked by Ohio AG David Yost. According to Yost, there has been no criminal complaint filed regarding a 10-year-old being raped nor has anything been requested of the state’s crime lab (i.e. rape kit results).
That revelation followed a trail of prior suspicion raised by PJ Media’s Megan Fox, who has been covering the story since its inception. Now, Fox has uncovered another detail, specifically about the abortion doctor who appears to have made up the tale, that makes things even worse.
According to her report, Dr. Caitlin Bernard has a history of not reporting underaged abortions.
Dr. Caitlin Bernard loves the spotlight. The Indiana abortionist gets interviewed on television and in print whenever abortion laws seek to limit her big abortion business. Recently, Bernard’s claims about a 10-year-old rape victim who she says came across state lines from Ohio to Indiana for an abortion, went viral, and the attention Bernard is now getting might not be the kind she likes.
But some digging into Bernard uncovered that she has been in exactly this same kind of trouble before. Indiana Right to Life audited termination of pregnancy reports that are public records in 2018 and found that nine abortion doctors allegedly failed to report underaged abortions to the health department as required by law. Bernard was one of them.
This was something I speculated about in my recent write-up on the matter, and it seems that speculation was more than idle. According to Indiana state law, all underage abortions must be reported to the state within three days. As Fox explains, that’s done so that the proper authorities can investigate whether the child was raped or not.
In this case, Bernard ran to the media to proclaim that she performed an abortion on a raped 10-year-old who had to leave her home state for the procedure due to a heartbeat law. Yet, there’s no official record of that at all, in either Ohio or Indiana. That means one of two things: Either Bernard lied or she broke the law. There’s no third option here.
Bernard is subject to state authorities and could have her medical license revoked if she didn’t report the underage abortion and rape she claims occurred.
Of course, the simplest answer to all this remains that this sick “doctor” just made the story up for political gain. Unfortunately, the damage is already done, with even President Joe Biden repeating the seemingly false claim from behind the White House podium. Bernard got what she wanted, which was more media hits on MSNBC and write-ups in the Post. Hopefully, state officials don’t let this go, though. There needs to be a full investigation into this woman.
