ALBANY — A summons charging former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo with misdemeanor forcible touching was prematurely issued by Albany City Court on Thursday after a sheriff’s investigator filed paperwork with the court summarizing their investigation and seeking to begin the process of obtaining a criminal complaint.

No final decision had been made by the sheriff’s department or the Albany County district attorney’s office on whether to formally file charges, according to sources familiar with the matter. But a spokesman for the state Office of Court Administration confirmed that a misdemeanor complaint against Cuomo was filed Thursday in Albany City Court.

After a scathing report from her office was released purporting to confirm multiple incidents of sexual harassment and assault committed by former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, criminal charges have now been filed in one case.

This is a bit of a surprise as I think most assumed Cuomo would just sink into obscurity. Apparently, his time in the spotlight isn’t over, though.

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had been charged with a misdemeanor sex-crime complaint in Albany City Court, a court system spokesman said Thursday.

The filing comes two months after Cuomo resigned in disgrace following accusations of sexual harassment against the three-term Democrat by multiple women.

Details of the allegations against Cuomo in the pending criminal complaint, which include the idenity of the woman at the center of it, were not immediately available Thursday.

This likely has to do with the woman who accused Cuomo of groping her, who had previously filed a complaint. There should be a redacted version released soon which will give more details as to exactly what Cuomo is accused of.

If Cuomo’s goose wasn’t already cooked for good, this should about do it. A few months ago, Chuck Todd was waxing poetic about the disgraced governor making a political comeback, but that’s off the table now. We’ll keep you updated on any further details.
