As I reported when Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court was originally announced, attacks on her children were prevalent early on (see Democrats Push Disgustingly Insane Amy Coney Barrett Conspiracy Theory, Go After her Children). That Barrett had adopted two of her kids from Haiti was apparently proof of colonialist racism or something. Yes, that’s a thing that was actually said.

If such nonsense had been said about a Democrat family, the media would have run through fire to defend them. Instead, we got mostly silence and a shift to attacks on Barrett’s religion because the left figures that’s more palatable. But as desperation sets in, they were always going to go back to the well. Hence this morning’s attack which posits that other children getting sick at the same school Barrett’s children attend is newsworthy.

Beth Reinhard is one of the originators of the Christine Blasey Ford smear against Brett Kavanaugh, so it should be no surprise she’s pushing every insane Barrett conspiracy theory these days. Just the other day, Reinhard put out an article supposing that Barrett being a “handmaiden” in her church group was scandalous, as if a stupid, dystopian TV show invented that term in the last several years (see Washington Post Investigative Report Discovers Amy Coney Barrett Is a Christian and the Reporters Are Left Baffled)

Regardless, the supposition being made by the Post here is that because some people at the Rose Garden announcement ceremony got COVID, this must mean Barrett’s kids are spreading it in their school. This despite the fact that her children do not have the virus, nor does Barrett, who already had it many months ago and is immune now. The Post actually knows that and put that in the article, but ran with the headline anyway.

Leave it to Jennifer Rubin to get in the middle of this as well.

At least the human trafficking smears had some creativity in them. This is just lazy narrative setting by which the Post hopes no one actually reads the article, and if you read the replies to their tweet, that’s exactly what happened. People are supposing that Barrett was patient zero, infecting dozens of White House officials and Congressional members despite the fact that she scientifically couldn’t have spread the virus. Everything is so stupid.

But this is what you get when the media can’t invent gang rape allegations against a nominee. You get deranged attacks on someone’s religion and their children. This stuff should be off limits but in the era of Trump, there are no lines.
