The Fighting Between Bernie Sanders and AOC Begins

When you get too egomaniacal socialists working under the same banner, the turf wars were always coming. Apparently, they are here between Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

A new piece in Vanity Fair details the intra-party fighting, which includes some pretty hilarious reports from the campaign trail. For example, did you know that AOC did a campaign appearance for Bernie Sanders while he was in Washington for the impeachment trial and didn’t even mention his name?

Following Ocasio-Cortez’s three-day stint, Sanders’s campaign manager, Faiz Shakir, texted AOC’s campaign manager to express his dissatisfaction with aspects of her performance, according to a source familiar with the exchange. Specifically, the Sanders campaign was miffed that Ocasio-Cortez didn’t mention Sanders by name when she closed out a campaign event at the University of Iowa on a Friday night at the end of last month—a fact that Fox News picked up on.

The Bernie camp is also annoyed by AOC’s immigration rhetoric. Yes, apparently AOC is even too radical for an open borders socialist when it comes to immigration.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments about the abolition of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Patrol were also seen by some within the Sanders campaign as going too far, straying from Sanders’s stance on the issues in encouraging people not to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, according to this source. During an event in Ames, Iowa, Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd, “Organizing is about tipping people off if you start to see that ICE and CBP are in communities to try and keep people safe.”

What AOC describes there is literally against the law. You can not “tip people off” in order to allow them to evade law enforcement. That makes you an accessory. To be fair, I highly doubt she even realizes that, as her knowledge of these topics is limited to whatever super woke talking point some activist group hands her in the morning.

Meanwhile, AOC is also said to be upset with Bernie’s people for flirting with Joe Rogan’s endorsement.

Ocasio-Cortez and her team, after all they’d done for Sanders, were said to be annoyed at being called on the carpet. And AOC’s team is also said to have had concerns about radio host Joe Rogan’s controversial unofficial endorsement of Sanders.

That was one of the dumber “controversies” of this campaign. Rogan is pot smoking liberal on nearly every issue except he doesn’t believe biological men should fight women in MMA. Apparently, that’s enough to make him persona non grata to the squad though.

Here’s the thing. When you get a bunch of “revolutionaries” with different visions in the same room, it’s just a matter of time before they start blowing each other up. No doubt, Bernie and AOC will do their best to play nice, but it’s clear there are internal divisions here. Watching them play out will be entertaining.
