As we enter the third week of impeachment fever, the media are ramping up their attacks. The Washington Post, for example, has an assemble line of like-minded articles being pumped out every thirty minutes assuring us that Trump’s demise is around the corner, that he’s “panicking,” and that Pelosi is a political genius. CNN has their partisan chyron game going and MSNBC is spinning new conspiracies nightly.
Despite the onslaught, Trump has made one thing clear – The dude simply doesn’t care.
Today during a press scrum, he set the media’s collective hair on fire by doing this.
President Trump: "China should start an investigation into the Bidens because what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine. So, I would say that President Zelensky, if it were me, I would recommend that they start an investigation into the Bidens." pic.twitter.com/Xia8vLUVT2

BREAKING: Amid an impeachment inquiry centered around request of Ukraine to investigate the Bidens, President Trump openly recommends that China also investigate the Bidens. https://t.co/VUmdrcE28v

What this has to do with is Biden and his son Hunter flying to China together on a government plane, after which the younger Biden used that trip to help garner $1.5 billion in investment for a fund he was putting together. The entire ordeal is sketchy and it’s another layer on Hunter’s already sketchy dealings in China, which I laid out yesterday.
Of course, some Republicans didn’t like what Trump said.
Un-American, idiotic, self defeating https://t.co/ydohiQc05q

With all due respect to whoever runs The Reagan Battalion’s Twitter, relax. There’s nothing objectively “un-American” about wanting to see corruption investigated and the stench of it coming from Hunter Biden’s activities in China is strong. The FBI can’t go into China and compel interviews and investigate. Trump made an off hand comment that both Ukraine and China should not let this go.
Furthermore, there’s nothing “self-defeating” about this either. Quite the opposite. Here’s the thing the more bashful Republicans among us need to understand. None of this is really about China or Ukraine investigating. The point of all this is to get the Biden story out there and circulating. That strategy has worked in spades. As I shared this morning, polling shows more people now believe Biden acted corruptly than not, and that’s with the entire legacy media running cover for him.
If Trump does something objectively wrong, I’ll say so and have (and I’ve taken my beating in the comments over it at times). But asking for your corrupt smelling opponent to be investigated is not wrong and I’m not going to buy into such ridiculous moral standards with all that is at stake.
Rest assured, Trump didn’t make this statement about China by accident. He’s trolling, and he’s got a perfectly legitimate reason to be doing so. He knows the media will now lose their minds over this but that voters will be curious about what exactly happened in China. Just as with the Ukraine scandal, this will hang around Joe Biden’s neck. Lastly, the overreaction by the media and Democrats only benefits him long term.
Politics is not a pillow fight where you can just virtue signal on Twitter and stay above the fray. Trump is using live ammunition and if some aren’t comfortable with that, I’m not sure what to tell you.
