Just in case you didn’t think the 2020 race was crazy enough, Michael Avenatti told CNBC that he is considering running for President and that there is a 50/50 shot he’ll do so. This would be the same Michael Avenatti that’s currently under multiple federal indictments, including stealing money for a paraplegic.

The report comes per The Daily Caller.

Embattled celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti is revisiting a potential 2020 presidential bid and told CNBC he is “one of the few effective fighters” in the Democratic Party.

“Never say never,” he told CNBC Friday when asked if he might still run in 2020. “The Dems need a non-traditional fighter. They have a lot of talent but not a lot of fighters.”

Avenatti said he puts the odds of running at 50-50, and he will make a final decision in the next few months, CNBC reported Saturday.

“I don’t think I need to make a final decision for a number of months. I have the name ID and everyone knows I’m one of the few effective fighters that the Dems have,” said Avenatti, who adopted the catch phrase “basta,” or “enough,” during his frequent attacks on President Donald Trump.

I’m trying to recall exactly what Avenatti has been so effective at. Yes, he got the better of Michael Cohen, but that case was closed without touching anyone else. Even on the civil side, Trump won the defamation lawsuit and forced Stormy Daniels to pay his legal fees.

On the topic of Brett Kavanaugh, no man was more responsible for seeing to his confirmation than Michael Avenatti. He trotted out an accuser named Jule Swetnick, who not only had no credibility, but whose tales were so unbelievable than even the media had to eventually back off them.

Of course, we’d be remiss to talk about Avenatti without giving credit to those in the media who propelled him to fame. The worst actor in this regard was CNN, who put him on the air over 100 times in just the span of a few months. There was a period where he had a nearly nightly hit on Anderson Cooper’s show. Brian Stelter praised him on his weekend show as a serious Presidential candidate.

Do I think Avenatti will run? I wouldn’t put it past him at this point. He’s obviously a egomaniac with a weighty addiction to the spotlight. There’s also a possibility that he may believe the feds will back off if he’s a candidate for President. I highly doubt that given the indictments have already dropped, but when you are facing decades in prison, rationality doesn’t have to be part of a play.

It’d certainly add a bit more spice to the Democratic field at least.
