Alabama Tornado Victims ask Trump to Sign Bibles...Meltdown Ensues

Another day, another obtuse, ridiculous meltdown in the media over something Donald Trump did. This time we head to Alabama, in the wake of dozens of deaths and hundreds who lost everything due to a vicious string of tornadoes. The President decided to make a personal visit to the victims, a choice that no one can fault him for, although Rep. Ted Lieu tried in a now deleted tweet.

“Is this why @realDonaldTrump is going to Alabama, because we need to build a wall along Alabama’s southern border? Oh wait, I just looked at the map…” he continued. “#FridayMorning Thoughts.”

Lieu has a penchant for being an unhinged maniac, so it’s no surprise he didn’t even realize the reason for Trump going before popping off. That wasn’t the end of the “controversy” though over the President’s visit.

Enter our valiant media and their Democrat boosters.

Per the article linked in the tweet above:

Providence Baptist Church has been a focal point for distribution of relief and aid for tornado survivors.

For some, autographing Bibles is akin to blasphemy. “I’d never sign someone else’s Bible,” said Southern historian Wayne Flynt, a Baptist deacon and professor emeritus at Auburn University. “That’s right next to sacrilege. That’s a holy book.”

But Flynt wasn’t surprised Trump was signing Bibles. “There is nothing that shames the president,” Flynt said.

He’s also not surprised Alabamians, who voted overwhelmingly for Trump, applauded the gesture. “He is for many a messianic figure, which is unbelievable – ‘No need for Jesus, we have Donald,’” Flynt said.

Instead of giving the context of why these people might ask to have a bible signed (or a hat), whether it’s theologically correct or not, they lead off with a guy who immediately attacks them as plebs having “no need for Jesus.” Honestly, it’s just disgusting. Would I ask Donald Trump to sign my bible? No, I can’t see why I would, but I’m not going to attack tornado victims over it because I’m actually a decent human being.

For further context, we are possibly talking about just two bibles, including one for a 12 year old boy who asked. He didn’t bring a box of bibles in to pass out like he wrote the thing. This has echos of the ridiculous outrage that ensued because Trump signed a few hats at the request of some military members late last year.

It gets worse though as the national media, and oddly enough some former Clinton cronies, got in on the snarking. Because we all know Bill Clinton was a beacon of biblical virtue.

This next one is from a guy who says he was in the “Clinton/Gore WH”…

And there were of course other media outlets that hid behind the “well, I’m just gonna share all these disgusting, snarky tweets in my story” facade to push this nonsense. You can see some here in The Hill. Elle Magazine rushed out a quick denunciation on this ground breaking story entitled “Trump is Signing Bibles now so That’s a wrap on Humanity, Right?”

Someone actually handed a Bible to Donald Trump and asked him to put his scribble on it. Donald Trump, the man who opted out of saying the Apostle’s Creed at President Bush’s funeral. That Donald Trump.

I’m not saying that anyone has to say The Apostle’s Creed, but it’s sort of part of the whole religious deal. Just surprising that Donald Trump, basically a missionary, took a pass on it.

This guy seems nice. There are lots of mainline denominations who don’t regularly (or at all) quote the Apostle’s Creed. I’m guessing this writer knows very little about the “whole religious deal,” but I digress.

That leads us to the climax of this whole ordeal, which ends with Michelle Malkin nuking all this snarling hypocrisy with a blast from the past. Enjoy.

This kind of petty craziness, played on a loop daily by our media, is why Trump has a much better shot of winning in 2020 than he otherwise would have.
