I’m not a ‘Judge’ Jeanine Pirro fan at all. Not even a little bit. She’s the kind of pro-Trump sycophant that is cringe-worthy to watch, and I say that as someone who generally likes the President and his policies.
Yet, as with most things dealing with Trump, the left is always willing to say “hold my beer” in a contest of who can look the most insane.
Apparently, Mrs. Pirro has a new book coming out and thought going on one of the most anti-Trump shows on TV was a good idea. It went about as well as expected.
Transcript per the Daily Wire…
“You are suffering from ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome'” Pirro said, pointing directly at Goldberg.
“Did you just point at me?” asked a hot Goldberg.
Pirro responded, “Yes.”
“Listen, I don’t have ‘Trump Derangement.’ Let me tell you what I have,” Goldberg started in. “I’m tired of people starting a conversation with ‘Mexicans are liars and rapists.’ I’m tired of people starting a conversation about this country. Listen, I’m 62 years old. There have been a lot of people in office that I didn’t agree with, but I have never, ever seen anything like this. I have never seen anybody whip up such hate. I have never seen anybody be so dismissive.”
What’s funny about this is Whoopi’s inability to really hit anything substantive in her response. You’d think she’d have the talking points ready and at least one salient counter to Pirro’s challenge. Nope. She just goes back to Trump’s campaign announcement speech in 2015, alleging that he called all Mexicans liars and rapists (Fact Check: He Didn’t). That’s all she’s got?
Goldberg continued, telling Pirro she “clearly” doesn’t “watch the show.” “I don’t suffer from that,” she claimed. “What I suffer from is the inability to figure out how to fix this. That’s my issue.”
I’ll answer that for her. Win the next election. That’s the only constitutional prescription for removing a President based on what you deem offensive rhetoric about Mexicans.
What really set Goldberg off though was Pirro’s next comeback. She responds to Whoopi bringing up immigration by pointing out the (very real) fact that there’s no excuse to have illegal immigrants committing violent crimes in this country.
“Well, I want to answer your question,” answered Pirro. “Your opening statement, which is how horrible it is that Donald Trump is talking about all of these people … Whoopi, you know what’s horrible? When people who shouldn’t be here end up murdering the children of American citizens.”
At that point, Whoopi loses it, yelling shes done, and they go to commercial. As with many liberals, she predictably preferred to shut down the conversation instead of giving a real rebuttal to what Pirro said.
The video of the heated exchange is in the tweet below and more fireworks continued off camera.
.@JudgeJeanine on what @WhoopiGoldberg did off stage: "I was leaving and she said ‘F you’ in my face – literally spitting at me, ‘F you, get the F out of this building.’ And I said to her, ‘did you just say that?’ She said that’s what I said, ‘get the F out of this building.’" pic.twitter.com/sEMtyrwCNN

Goldberg came back from the commercial break and gave a quasi-defensive statement about the incident.
“So you saw me do something I very rarely do,” she said. “I very rarely lose my cool, and I’m not proud of it and I don’t like it. But I also don’t like being accused of being hysterical, because that’s one of the things I try not to be on this show.”
Let’s think about this. She doesn’t like being accused of being hysterical so her response to that is…to act hysterical on air and even more so off air? Makes sense.
Pirro is a loud mouth. It’s one of the reasons (among many) I can’t stand to watch her. At the same time, Whoopi has little ground to stand on in taking offense here when her own behavior over the past two years has clearly shown a real level of derangement when it comes to Trump. Whether it’s her continued delving into easily countered conspiracy theories about Trump or just general ranting about anything and everything the President does regardless of merit, she’s proven to be anything but the calm, thoughtful commentator she paints herself as.
Pro-tip: If you don’t want to be accused of being hysterical, don’t act hysterical about everything. Simple enough.
To dig a little deeper, there’s a bigger problem shown in Goldberg’s response here and it extends to most liberals.
They hate Trump. They are all experts at that. Yet, when challenged on the realities of his policies and their outcomes, they’ve got nothing. They almost always fall back into complaints about his rhetoric while they rarely have arguments to make about actual policy. Hysterical, media driven conspiracies about Trump and Russia rank somewhere below concerns about Mitch McConnell’s dog when the public is polled. That puts Democrats in an awkward position when it comes to trying to win elections going forward. They have no platform to run on.
In the end, this was another black mark on our civil discourse. Look on the bright side though. At least Joy Behar wasn’t there today.
