Crazed leftists have shown us how truly deplorable they can be as they celebrate algae growth in the National Mall Reflecting Pool and savage President Trump for attempting to beautify our nation’s capital. He cleaned up Columbus Circle, home to Union Station, which previously looked like a graffiti gallery, he’s ordered the National Park Service to repair dozens of fountains, and he’s resurfaced and cleaned the Reflecting Pool.
What a terrible guy.
The Reflecting Pool project hasn’t gone precisely to plan, however, as algae reared its ugly head and took over the water, and there appear to be problems with the new surface peeling. As someone who has fought mightily against algae, I know the aquatic, photosynthetic organisms are a fierce foe.
On Tuesday, the president revealed that it isn’t just green growth that is at issue — it’s vandalism. Someone or some people sliced hundreds of feet of the new, “American Flag blue” Pool bottom. The arrest total is now up to six, he said:
Six people have been arrested, and seven people have been cited, for the damage they did to our Country’s now beautiful Reflecting Pool. The 350 foot gash, made by a very sharp knife or razors, is actually numerous slashes over a very long 350 foot length.

They came at night, the president said:
It was purposefully and criminally done, and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition. Likewise, the small area at the bottom of the Pool was cut and powerfully lifted off the surface leaving very jagged, uneven edges.
As we reported earlier in June, vandals somehow discolored or killed grass to spell out “8647” on the National Mall lawn. Trump said that the Pool and the lawn will both be taken care of:
The large areas of grass are being replaced. In any event, even prior to fixing those areas, the Reflecting Pool is as beautiful as it can be. We will drain some of the water, either immediately before or after the Fourth of July, to do the permanent repair. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Actually, a mental health check isn’t good enough — they need to be put in a rubber room.
It’s almost hard to fathom the levels of Trump Derangement Syndrome that are infecting these vandalizing loons. I seriously disliked former President Joe Biden — in fact, I’d argue that he is easily the worst commander-in-chief in modern times, if not ever — but it would never occur to me to deface property in our capital city. What point does it make? Does it help with the concerns the Left claims they care about, like affordability, social justice, and protecting democracy? No, because they don’t actually care about those things; they just care about opposing anything Trump does or says.
If the six who have been nabbed so far, including former U.S. Olympic canoe racer David Hearn (he says he’s innocent), are proven guilty, I recommend that they be forced to clean up the algae with a toothbrush and pay for all necessary fixes.
