While anti-ICE rioters in Los Angeles continued to attack law enforcement personnel, and “No Kings” protests went down in major cities across the country Saturday, an actually important event was going on in Washington, D.C.: the celebration of the 250^th anniversary of the United States Army.

I made what I hoped was a humorous suggestion to my colleagues Saturday evening (warning, slightly provocative language):

“Here is my article: Suck it, China. Eat this, Iran. Enjoy your cry, America hating Dems like Elizabeth Warren.

"U.S.A!

"Darn, I’m still a few hundred words short.”

Then I added a little extra to round it out:

“Don’t be so sad, Vlad!” That was me joking that Russian President Vladimir Putin could only watch and wish to the heavens that he was in charge of such an awesome military machine.

Although I was joking, I realized there was also a truth to what I was saying; namely, that to Democrats and progressives, it long ago became shameful to celebrate America and its awesome achievements, and they would rather wallow in their misery and decry how awful we are as a country. But that wasn’t going to happen in Washington, D.C., tonight, not under the watch of President Donald Trump:

Democrats across the spectrum decried the parade and lamented its cost—this as they regularly advocate for throwing billions at health care for illegal aliens and boondoggle, Green New Deal garbage. But celebrate our military? That is a bridge too far for them.
