Hell Hath No Fury: Gavin Newsom Throws Shade at Kamala Harris on Day of Debate

We’re only hours away from the crucial debate that could have a huge impact on the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. This is the time for your allies to be sticking up for you, to be telling the world what a great leader you are, and to be touting your policies.

If your “ally” is California Governor Gavin Newsom, however, and you’re the nominee for the position he so desperately covets, you might not want to turn your back. Also, think about getting a food taster.

Newsom appeared on CBS News Tuesday and seemingly mocked Democrat nominee Kamala Harris over her lack of interviews. “That’s up to her,” he said when asked if she should make more appearances. Doesn’t that remind you of someone… say, Nancy Pelosi, when she said about Joe Biden staying in the race, “I want him to do whatever he decides to do,” even as she was busy working behind the scenes to force him to step down?

Newsom also added some unwelcome advice. “I think absolutely” she should do more interviews, he said. He knows full well that the last thing she or her campaign wants is to do any interview at all because she’s incapable of stringing thoughts together and has no real policies that she can explain. Thanks, Gavin.

The CA GOP quickly took note:

INTERVIEWER: We’ve been hearing she’s going to do more interviews.

NEWSOM: Yeah. Look, that’s up to the campaign. And you know what, I’m not even here to advise in that respect, but I think absolutely she should do that.

That’s up to her.

The internet took notice too, with one user posting, “When your own party is calling you out for hiding, you know it’s bad.” Another wrote, “Senior Democrats are starting to abandon Kamala. Newsom already making fun of her fear of interviews.”

Newsom, affectionately known locally as "Gov. Hair Gel," openly coveted the nomination, and even though he repeatedly denied he was gunning for the job, ran an obvious shadow campaign in case the opportunity arose.  It didn’t—at least, not yet.

If Harris goes on to lose, there’s always 2028. Did he purposefully kneecap her at a crucial moment in the race? You decide.

The Forgotten Man

He’s proven before that he isn’t always kind to his friends:

It was already going to be a high-stakes evening for Kamala Harris. Newsom just gave her opponent one more thing to shred her on. “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” is the way the quote usually reads, but I think you can swap out the words to read, "Hell hath no fury like a narcissist scorned.”

Meanwhile, the Governor is still hard at work fixing California:
