Sen. Kennedy Hilariously Destroys FBI Over Whether Trump Was Shot: 'It Wasn't a Murder Hornet?'

As we reported, FBI Director Chris Wray testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee on July 24 and inexplicably said about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, "there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.”

This despite the fact that only conspiracy theorists and wild-eyed leftists had such questions; Trump's own doctor had unequivocally determined that a bullet had caused the former president's wound. An incredible photograph even showed the projectile as it flew toward Trump’s head.

But leave it to Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) to use his trademark humor to mock the feds and force them to tell the truth. Watch this priceless exchange as he takes on FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate:

It's just too good. You sure it wasn’t a murder hornet? Kennedy asked, tongue-in-cheek. Not space aliens?

SEN. JOHN KENNEDY: "Is there any doubt in your mind or in the collective mind of the FBI that President Trump was shot in the ear by a bullet fired by the assassin?"

FBI DEPUTY DIRECTOR PAUL ABBATE: "There is absolutely no doubt in the FBI’s mind ... There never had been."

SEN. KENNEDY: "It wasn't a space laser?"

ABBATE: "No."

SEN. KENNEDY: "It wasn't a murder hornet?"

ABBATE: "Absolutely not."

SEN. KENNEDY: "It wasn't Sasquatch?"

ABBATE: "No, Senator."

SEN. KENNEDY: "Glad we cleared that up.

Why Wray ever questioned it in the first place is anyone’s guess. As I wrote at the time, it opens up questions about his motivations and his political bias:

It's unclear why Wray would so irresponsibly question Jackson's medical determination. Unless he has some new information that he is willing to share publicly, casting doubt will just fuel conspiracy theories and rile up the leftist tinfoil hat crowd. I can't read the man's mind, so I don't know his motive, but I can think of no other reason he would do this.

It's irresponsible and unprofessional.

Meanwhile, Kennedy continues to be the funniest member of Congress. You can always count on some witty expression that you’ve never heard before coming from him whenever it’s his turn at the microphone.

As lawmakers continue to grill the FBI and the Secret Service over the failure to protect Trump from the almost-assassin, the agencies just keep looking worse and worse. While Kennedy is always funny, it should be embarrassing to Chris Wray that he was just thoroughly exposed on live TV by his own deputy.
