Remember when Texas Sen. Ted Cruz got into some serious, personal squabbles with Donald Trump when both were running for president in 2016? Somehow they were able to patch things up after Trump won the Oval, which Cruz proved again by endorsing the former president for the top job Tuesday.
The senator took to X to announce his support:

Cruz, who won the Iowa caucuses in 2016, also appeared on "Hannity" to talk about Trump's big win there Monday night and detail why he thinks Trump is the best person for the job.

Cruz:
Listen, last night was decisive. [Iowa] was a dominating victory for Donald Trump: I've got to say, there's no place like the Iowa caucuses. I know it intimately. The men and women of Iowa, they take their responsibility incredibly seriously. They scrutinize the candidates.
It's an amazing process, and I'm a big believer in letting democracy play out. Well, last night it played out, and I got to say Trump's victory was across the board. He won 51 percent of the vote. He won 98 of the counties.
Congratulations to President Trump on that dominating victory.
And at this point, I believe this race is over.
Cruz didn't just leave it there, however. He went on to slam the current president, Joe Biden, for his ruinous policies:
We've got to beat Joe Biden. We've got to beat this disastrous cultural Marxism agenda in the White House. We've gotta retake the United States Senate. We've gotta hold the House. We gotta come together and win. And with the results last night, the people have spoken.
It's time to move onward to victory in November.
What's fascinating to me about Cruz's endorsement is that it wasn't that long ago that I thought the two could never be in the same room together, they hated each other so much, and yet now here's the Texas senator praising his former rival, the 45th former president. Their battles were intense and deeply derogatory, and I didn't think they were possible to overcome.
But Trump and his competitors have shown they can let bygones be bygones. Trump nuked rival Vivek Ramaswamy over the weekend -- and yet they've already made up.

What will be interesting to see as this process moves forward is whether Trump will achieve similar alliances with former South Carolina Senator/U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis -- both of whom are still in the race for the GOP nomination -- should he win the primaries. Or will one or both end up like failed candidate former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who seems to have in recent times based his entire existence on attacking the former president?
Time will tell, but one thing I can predict with confidence: it will not be boring. The Cruz endorsement is a big one and further cements Trump's status as the likely GOP nominee for 2024.
