VA Mom Blasts School Board for Blocking TPUSA Even As Abbott Expands Chapters in TX

You don't have to be a parent to see the obvious: American students are not going to schools; they are going to public indoctrination centers that taxpayer dollars are paying for. Instead of ensuring that those students are proficient in reading, writing, math, and every other subject that will equip them to compete with the rest of the world, they are learning about the LGBTQ agenda, climate change, and revisionist history. They are also not being taught how to think critically; they are being told what to think, the standard liberal agenda. But parents, even in blue states, have had enough.

At an October meeting of the Prince William County, Virginia, School Board, Merianne Jensen ripped into the board for preventing a group of students, including her son, from starting a Turning Point USA chapter. Jensen posted a video on social media where she stated in part:

My son and his friends showed remarkable initiative in starting a Turning Point USA chapter at Patriot High School. A club open to all students that promotes civic engagement, leadership and open dialogue, qualities we want every student to develop. Yet, starting this club has been an uphill battle. No teacher would sponsor it, fearing backlash in today’s polarized climate that many of you on this board have created and the students face excessive hurdles just to get it approved. This is unacceptable. When the Young Democrats club and the LGBTQ club can be approved with no problem, why the double standard? Mr. Tracy Blake’s verbal assault on Ms. [Erica] Tredinnick after the Oct. 1 board meeting for her support of the Turning Point club exposes your hypocrisy.

Jensen was referring to a previous heated argument over efforts to start the club between School Board Vice Chair Blake and Board member Tredinnick, who supports the club.

But this is just the latest in the ongoing battle of parents to prevent the indoctrination of their children in blue states. In a deep red state like Texas, things are vastly different, and parents are no doubt grateful. Gov. Greg Abbott (R), along with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and TPUSA Senior Director Josh Thifault, announced an initiative that would create TPUSA chapters, called Club America, in every Texas high school. Abbott said there were no plans to require schools to start chapters, but he expected “meaningful disciplinary action” would take place against “any stoppage of TPUSA in the great state of Texas.” Abbott issued this warning,

“Let me be clear: Any school that stands in the way of a Club America program in their school should be reported immediately to the Texas Education Agency,” the governor said, referring to the name of the high school clubs.

Texas is not alone in fending off the left-wing indoctrination of students. In September, Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced he would be encouraging every high school in the state to start a club, and in October, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) also announced a partnership with TPUSA to encourage more clubs in Florida high schools.

It is a stark contrast to the hypocrisy and leftist brainwashing going on in other blue states like Virginia. While the education community in those blue states seems to recoil at the thought of a TPUSA club, in New Jersey, at Highland Park High School, the Socialist Club recently held its first meeting during lunch hour. The flyer promoting the club that was distributed at the school said "WE WANT YOU!" at the top, then advertised, "Learn ways to solve social problems that don't involve exploiting the working class," and "Learn what socialism is — not just what they tell you," "Learn media and literacy skills along the way" and "To help us build a better world!" And what Socialist Club flyer would be complete without a "Workers of the world unite" at the bottom.

Highland Park, a well-to-do suburb southwest of New York City, has a median household income of around $100,000, slightly higher than the national average at $83,730. So, it appears that Highland Park High School's budding young Socialists will be cut from the same cloth as incoming New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. It's pretty easy to chant "workers of the world unite" when you are printing out the flyers from your Apple computer, and there's a good chance you will never be one of those workers because, well, there's mommy and daddy.

It is unknown whether the TPUSA chapter at Merianne Jensen's son's school will go forward. But she has already taught him a valuable lesson in free thinking and free speech.

President Trump is fighting to dismantle the Department of Education and ensure America's kids get the education they deserve.
