Some folks believe that with every new announcement about the explosive growth of Turning Point USA in the aftermath of co-founder and CEO Charlie Kirk's brutal public assassination, Charlie looks down, and smiles.
I am among them.
I'm also grateful to be in a position to help spread the news of Charlie's life mission continuing to grow, but also to report on specific examples that would make him proud.
This is one such example.
Oklahoma State Superintendent of Education Ryan Walters announced on Tuesday a partnership to put a chapter of TPUSA in every high school in the state, in to counter what Walters called "radical leftists in teachers unions" and "woke indoctrination" in classrooms.
In a video announcing the partnership, Walters proudly said:
I'm excited to announce today that every Oklahoma high school will have a Turning Point USA chapter. We have seen the outpouring from parents, teachers, and students that want to be engaged in the meaningful work going on at Turning Point.
They want their young people to be engaged in process that understands free speech, open engagement, [and] dialogue about American greatness — a dialogue around American values. We're so excited to partner with Turning Point USA with this initiative.
Let's pause for a moment and reflect.
Like me, I'm confident that when you were growing up, you were proud to be an American, proud to say the Pledge of Allegiance, proud to see the American flag furling in the wind, and proud to sing our National Anthem.
Yet today, far too many on the left show contempt for all of the above, both through hateful and dangerous rhetoric, and now, at an alarmingly increasing rate, the vitriol manifested as brutal and often deadly violence.
Walters continued:
For far too long we have seen radical leftists with the teachers unions dominate classrooms and push woke indoctrination on our kids. They defy parents' rights. They push parents out of the classroom. And they lie to our kids about American history.
What we're gonna continue to do is make sure that our kids understand American greatness, engage in civic dialogue, and have that open discussion. We will continue to do all that we can to make sure Oklahoma students have the best education possible.
Amen.

As I transcribed Superintendent Walters' words, I thought about how the greatness of our country could return to all of America if public education followed Oklahoma's example, be that via partnership with TPUSA or via some other equivalency.
That's not likely to happen, but one can dream — or perhaps pray.

Our children are only young and impressionable for a short time. It seems to me that if more of them were taught as many of us were taught, the fewer of them would be susceptible to radicalization later in life.
We used to say "one can only hope. As Charlie Kirk showed us, that's not true. We must act — and we must act, decisively.
Teaching the foundational tenets of Turning Point USA to our young kids is a good place to start.
