When Democrats Aren't Yelling About Gun Control, Does It Tell You What They Support?

If there is one concept Democrats and the left can't seem to comprehend, it's the Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms. The right to defend yourself, your family, and your property against those who would do harm to any of those things. Ask any Democrat or leftist what they think the Second Amendment is for, and they will start blathering on about militias and muskets. But when there are guns involved in an incident that they may be remotely comfortable with, you get silence, a symphony of crickets. Is their reaction to such events becoming a way of letting us know what kind of violence they support?

Assassination culture is spreading on the left. Forty-eight percent of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. Fifty-five percent said the same about Donald Trump.

At this point, all the perfunctory tweets about how they do not condone violence are rather comical. It's becoming very clear they do. Recent events and their response, or lack of it, tell a different story. To make the point a bit clearer, let's compare. Think about the knee-jerk reaction to any school shooting in recent years. In most of those cases, the shooter has been a student. The assumption for Democrats and the left is that the shooter got the gun from a right-wing gun fanatic parent. If the student is of legal age to purchase the gun, the blame goes to Republicans and conservatives for their pro-Second Amendment policies. And let's not forget that other favorite Democrat punching bag, the National Rifle Association (NRA), which, if they could, Democrats would disband in a heartbeat.

Then there is the aftermath of two assassination attempts on President Donald Trump. The first in July of 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania, and the other in September at his golf course in Florida. Were there any calls for gun control and the end to violence from Democrats and the left? No, again, nothing but crickets. But before both assassination attempts, you didn't have to go far to find examples of Democrats and the left calling for violence against Trump and his supporters. The latest example: former FBI Director James Comey, his now-infamous "86 47" Instagram post, and his ridiculous explanation for it. Seems like they were pretty okay with that kind of violence.

On December 4, 2024, United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson walked along a New York City street on his way to attend an early morning meeting. He was gunned down in cold blood by Luigi Mangione. The apparent reason was that he was the head of a major insurance company. We know how Democrats and the left feel about insurance companies. They enjoy denying poor people insurance claims and want them to die, and are inherently evil. But Luigi Mangione has attained cult hero status for the left. Young women line up to get into the courtroom when he is scheduled to appear. Where was the demand for gun control after Thompson's murder? Perhaps this is the explanation: A 2023 Gallup poll showed that 70 percent of Democrats support universal healthcare. Again, their silence says all you need to know.

That brings us to the horrific shooting Wednesday night of two Israeli Embassy staffers as they were leaving the Capitol Jewish Museum. The couple, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrom, were allegedly gunned down by a Chicago man, Elias Rodriquez. The motive for the shooting seemed apparent. As he was being taken into custody by police, he yelled, "Free, free Palestine!" This after the entire nation has watched anti-Israel, pro-Hamas protests on almost every college campus in the nation without any attempt from the Biden administration to squelch them. Jewish students have been harassed and even prevented from walking to class in some cases. Antisemitic violence on those campuses has risen dramatically. The only response from Democrats has been from squad members like Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who has routinely accused Israel of genocide and defended the call of "from the river to the sea," which many view as a call to violence against Jews, and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who couldn't even muster a comment after Wednesday's shooting. Her non-response was the "official" response from Democrats and the left. What was missing? Again, any calls for gun control. See a pattern yet?

What Democrats and the left don't want you to see is that pattern of unacceptable violence they can blame Republicans for, versus the strain of violence they are willing to give a wink and a nod to because they are okay with it, and dare it be said, support it.

So, the next time there is a violent event involving guns, take a minute and gauge the noise level about it from Democrats and the left. It will be equal to their acceptance level.
