Anyone who has followed politics for any length of time knows that Democrats have a few tried and true plays in the playbook. Among those, "Republicans are racist, sexist, bigoted homophobes," and the more recent "Donald Trump is Hitler!" Democrats will go out on a limb with a few variations of the latter with "Trump is evil," or a popular one in this election year, "Trump will end democracy!" The great Rush Limbaugh used to say that liberalism was all about emotions and how someone "feels," and Democrats, because they don't have much else to run on in 2024, are doing just that, playing on the emotions of American voters. A new poll indicates that might be working, but is it?
ISIS? Really?

Every time Trump killed an ISIS leader the democrats screamed like they just lost their best friend. 🤷♂️
Now we know why.
To be fair, there is a portion of the voting public that, if given the opportunity this year, would pull the lever in the voting booth for "none of the above." Many Americans are not happy about a Donald Trump-Joe Biden rematch. But a new AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll says that it is Democrats who are more disturbed by this than Republicans. The poll sampled 1,282 adults and was conducted between March 21-25. When asked to describe their feelings about a possible Trump win in November, 70 percent of Democrats said the words "angry" and "fearful" described how they felt either "extremely well" or "very well." For those who said they were Republicans, 56 percent said they would describe their feelings about Joe Biden being reelected the same way.
The poll also found that, as might be expected, 54 percent of Republicans said "excited" described their feelings about voting for Trump "extremely well" or "very well," while just 40 percent of Democrats said that best described their feelings about voting for Biden. But responses from some of those polled, and the words they used, make the question of just how deep the media's Trump Derangement Syndrome is and how deeply it affects voters a valid question.
One Democrat voter who described himself as "very liberal" said he thought Trump's reelection attempt “looks like a clear ploy for trying to abolish democracy.” Didn't Trump have ample opportunity to "abolish democracy" the first time? The media is rife with warnings about Trump wanting to "end democracy." Are enough people buying into that ridiculous message? Another Democrat voter said, “Donald Trump is a madman. I’m afraid he’ll have us in World War III." Um...have you looked around the world lately? War in Ukraine, war in Israel, unrest in Haiti, and the ever-present saber-rattling of China towards Taiwan. Since March of 2021, seven embassies around the world have reduced or suspended operations under Joe Biden's watch. Another Democrat respondent called Trump "a screaming lunatic."
The funniest thing is that you, Hillary and every Democrat are scared of Trumps posts. https://t.co/it56XZbgTC

The media scare tactics are clearly working with Democrats. Republicans and, more specifically, Trump supporters are not buying it. A Republican respondent said matter-of-factly,
“We know what we’re getting with Trump. I knew who he was when he came down that escalator in 2015, and we were never getting Boy Scout material. But he put conservatives on the Supreme Court, he was firm on immigration ... and he’s a conservative who handled the economy.”
If abolishing democracy does not work with voters, the Biden campaign and Democrats seized on a comment that Trump made to Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity during a town hall in Davenport, Iowa, back in December. Hannity asked Trump if he could assure voters that he was not going to "abuse power or seek retribution" if reelected. For those who ignore the media's Trump palpitations, his response was rather tongue-in-cheek, saying, “Except for day one, I want to close the border, and I want to drill, drill, drill.” The media promptly took it out of context, and it played beautifully right into dire warnings about Trump cavorting with leaders like Vladimir Putin.
There will always be a faction of "The sky is falling" voters who will be prone to whatever it is the media is trying to shove at them. But for most Americans, all the "orange man is scary" bilge the Democrats roll out cannot hide soaring food and gas prices, soaring crime rates, the nightmare at the southern border, and perceived American weakness abroad that they see and live every day. For the first time in quite a while, two Presidents can put their records up side by side for the American people to judge. You can love or hate Donald Trump, but it is the contrast of those two records that should be the scariest tactic of all.
