Fetterman Does Not Budge in His Support for Israel After Biden Issues Gaza Ultimatum in Phone Call

Exactly a month after the heinous attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fetterman shared a remarkable video showing his Congressional office. What it symbolized was a message to not only his constituents and pro-Hamas activists who might disagree with his standing with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and our staunch ally, Israel to eradicate the terror group; it was also a message to his fellow Democrats.

As my colleague Jeff Charles wrote:

On Tuesday, Fetterman posted footage of his office in Congress wallpapered with posters of missing Israeli hostages taken by Hamas during its surprise attack on Israel on October 7.

The footage in his video panned around his office showing the posters. In the post on X, formerly Twitter, Fetterman explained that the posters “will stay up until every single person is safely returned home.”

Now, that message has extended to the President of the United States and the White House, after news broke Thursday about Pres. Joe Biden's essentially issuing an ultimatum to the PM during a phone call. I'll get back to that in a minute.

Over the past few days, Sen. Fetterman has been undeterred by some in his own party ramping up negative rhetoric against Israel and Netanyahu, including during a roundtable interview on CBS News. He was on "CBS Mornings" to ostensibly open up about mental health and his own struggles with it, urging people to get help. But he also was unflinching when the topic turned to whether he stands with Israel.

Co-host Gayle King asked the lawmaker:

I think everybody wants Hamas destroyed, but I think the position Netanyahu seems to be taking--I'm wondering how you feel about him these days--is that, 'destroy Hamas at all costs.' You know they say most of the, many of the victims now are women and children. [...]

At what point do you say, we have to come up with another strategy, that at least keeps the innocent, the women and the children, safe?

Fetterman soundly rejected the legacy media's ongoing attempt to push the Hamas-affiliated medical propaganda, which was embedded in that question:

It's very important to minimize the collateral damage, and protecting civilization [sic] lives as well, and I would hope that Hamas decides to, not starting to hide behind civilians--creating those circumstances that makes it even more difficult as well.

The interview agreed that that was the terror group's "strategy," then Fetterman continued, "That is their strategy, and now even in hospitals or in the tunnels and everything."

He then nailed the elephant in the room, which many on the Left like to leave out of the discussion. He said, "We also can't forget about the hostages, too. They've been in custody now since Oct. 7. So, it's an awful situation." Lastly, he reaffirmed the common sense position--considering all of the factors he mentioned--and what the United States' position should be towards the Israel-Hamas war:

You don't have to agree with every leader's views. But we have an opportunity to stand with Israel. That's what I've decided to do.

Back to that Biden-Netanyahu phone call. On Thursday, Sen. Fetterman responded perfectly to the White House's full-court press about its threat against Israel, in a nine-word Twitter-X post:

It's worth repeating: "In this war against Hamas--no conditions for Israel." Period. I doubt Fetterman is going to stand down on this issue--and there's nothing Dem leadership or the WH can do about it. Bravo!
