Back in February – you remember, that time shrouded in the mists, before the Wuhan coronavirus consumed every waking hour? – Aubrey Huff, a former Major League Baseball player with the San Francisco Giants, shared a letter with his Twitter followers expressing his dismay after learning why the team he played for during two trips to the World Series had “disinvited” him from attending a 2010 World Series team reunion.

And it was something Huff felt so strongly about, he pinned it at the top of his Twitter feed.

The MLB veteran certainly hasn’t been shy about his longstanding, strong support for President Trump.

Huff wrote, in part:

“When I asked why I wasn’t invited [Giants CEO Larry Baer] told me the [Giants team] board didn’t approve of my Twitter posts, and my political support of Donald Trump.

My lockerroom [sic] humor on Twitter is meant to be satirical, not sarcastic. And that was the kind of humor that loosened up the clubhouse in 2010 for our charge at a World Series title. They loved it then, and it hasn’t changed. That’s not the issue. It’s politics.”

He continued:

“To the Giants board members who seem to think every Giants fan is a Liberal, they aren’t.

I have had thousands of die-had Giants fans reach out to me on my social media platforms to support me.”

In another part of the letter, Huff added a pointed jab at Baer, who was embroiled in scandal himself, after a leaked tape showed an altercation with his wife:

“I find this whole thing very hypocritical coming from a man who has his share of real controversy for pushing his wife for which he had to take a break from the Giants and issue an apology. All I did was Tweet.”

Indeed, in a statement reported by CBS San Francisco, the team all but confirmed (albeit in “squishy” language) that Huff’s invite was pulled for the reason he stated, according to CBS News.

The team said, in part, that Huff’s:

“multiple comments on social media [were] unacceptable and run counter to the values of our organization.”

Huff’s Twitter feed features pro-Trump views and fiery responses with other users. In one recent tweet that sparked outrage, Huff said he was training his sons at a gun range in case Democrat Bernie Sanders wins 2020 election.

“Knowing how to effectively use a gun under socialism will be a must,” Huff posted.

Now, Huff is responding to his old team about something he says shouldn’t be taking place on the baseball diamond — taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem during a Monday exhibition game between the Giants and the Oakland Athletics on the latter’s home field.

The Giants shared the moment on their official Twitter account Monday, along with the hashtag, #BlackLivesMatter.

Huff seems to have changed his mind about regretting not getting invited to that reunion. /sarcasm

He wrote:

“I’m proud to not be invited to the @SFGiants 10 year WS reunion. I’m PRO America. @MLB #Merica”

One thing Huff wrote in his letter to the Giants a couple months back remains relevant today:

“We live in a country that is under attack. Society is desperately trying to take away our 1st Amendment, our freedom of speech, and our freedom of political association….And while I’m disappointed the Giants are so opposed to President Trump, and our constitutional rights….it shows me that now more than ever, we have to stand up for [them]. Otherwise the America we know and love is already dead.”

Then he threw in a great zinger to close, which many Americans would agree with: “[J]ust because I might not share some of your political views (which are stupid) I still respect your right to express them.”
