The ability of Democrats to excuse themselves over behavior they rail about in others often amazes me. They always have an excuse. They always have a reason why when they do something and makes it acceptable – in their eyes.
The latest example, naturally, comes in the form of a wild-eyed Cory Booker, bellowing like a madman at Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. Booker thundered, slammed his fists, and engaged in a spittle-flecked rant that had more to do with impressing possible donors for a 2020 presidential run than getting information.
When questioned about it after the RNC said he was engaging in “mansplaining” he said:
Sen. Cory Booker responds to RNC claims that he was "mansplaining" the DHS secretary: "It’s a little insulting to say that I should be treating Cabinet secretaries one way or another depending upon their gender" https://t.co/oXFJgMbY8o https://t.co/A8PgO45hV5

Insulting? Really? What about other Senators? People probably forget the absolute hissy fit the left had when somebody dared to interrupt Senator Kamala Harris who peppered Jeff Sessions with questions and wouldn’t allow him to answer before asking another.
One of the excuses offered up by Booker’s apologists is that he was going after somebody who was “clearly” lying under oath. Therefore, his antics were perfectly acceptable.
Really.
Let us take a trip back to 2013 when former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Jan. 23, 2013. There was a particular exchange between Clinton and Senator Ron Johnson that’s become somewhat infamous in the Benghazi realm. Senator Johnson was inquiring about the lies Clinton and President Obama told the American people in the wake of the Benghazi attacks. Their claim in the first 2-3 weeks after the attack was to blame it on some obscure YouTube video nobody had ever seen. Despite knowing the attack was a planned terrorist attack the days after, the administration repeatedly kept blaming the video. Their goal was to confuse the public because of the scrutiny they’d face knowing 4 Americans were killed on their watch because they didn’t have the security they required for safety.
Here is what Senator Johnson said:
Johnson: No, again, we were misled that there were supposedly protests and that something sprang out of that — an assault sprang out of that — and that was easily ascertained that that was not the fact, and the American people could have known that within days and they didn’t know that.
Hillary Clinton responded:
Clinton: With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?
That line became its own political ad. People made a claim the comments lacked context. Well, here are the rest of her remarks:
It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator. Now, honestly, I will do my best to answer your questions about this, but the fact is that people were trying in real time to get to the best information. The IC has a process, I understand, going with the other committees to explain how these talking points came out. But you know, to be clear, it is, from my perspective, less important today looking backwards as to why these militants decided they did it than to find them and bring them to justice, and then maybe we’ll figure out what was going on in the meantime.]
How convenient. She lied through her teeth. How did Senator Johnson respond?
Johnson: OK. Thank you, Madame Secretary.
That’s it. Simple. Done.
Now, Johnson could have responded a different way. Hillary was clearly lying. Therefore Johnson could have reacted this way:
Johnson: What difference does it make? Four Americans are DEAD MADAME SECRETARY! Including a United States ambassador, the first time such a death occurred in over thirty years. Men with wives. Men with children! How dare you belittle their deaths by saying it makes no difference how they died. IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Ambassador Stevens asked for more security multiple times, and it was denied! (*pound table with fists*) I will not allow you to dishonor the memories of those four men by allowing you to pretend you didn’t lie and now say it doesn’t make a difference!
What if that had happened (In fact, I kind of wish it did)? We know what the response would have been.
We know.
Democrats (and the press) would have lost their goddamned minds.
Don’t allow them to get away with the hypocrisy. Continue to call them out.
