ACLU Attorney Nails the 'White Supremacy' of Cisgender Sports, Says an Infant's Sex is Not 'Easily Identifiable'

Chase Strangio has a lot to say on anti-transgender sports.

On Thursday, the ACLU staff attorney fingered the foundational force driving some to contend women are athletically inferior and that sex is static and twofold.

Per Strangio, the whole thing comes down to a derelict duo of sinister scourges.

“A few notes on women and girls who are in trans sports,” the tweet thread begins.

It’s simple:

“There is a relentless effort to [situate] trans people as a threat to cis people in sport and elsewhere. There simply is no threat.”

Chase has broken down the delusion:

“The foundation of these arguments [is] based on two dangerous and faulty premises.”

Here they are:

  • First, that men and boys are always better, stronger, faster and more skilled than women and girls.
  • Second, that sex categories are binary, fixed and easily identifiable at birth.

What lies beneath the myth that an infant’s sex is obvious or a guy is stronger than a gal?

This:

“Both of these premises are rooted in misogyny and white supremacy.”

It has nothing to do with feminism:

“The interest behind these narratives is not in ‘protecting women’ but rather protecting the power of the state to control people’s bodies and constrain people’s identities.”

The lawyer points to decades of thorough transgender sports history:

“Women and girls who are trans have been competing in women’s sport at every level of competition all over the world for decades. There is simply NO dominance of trans women athletes because the myth of biological superiority is just that — a myth.”

Chase says a slew of states are about to ban chicks from competition. And the far-Right folks who are doing it don’t care about girls, equal pay, or encouraging coaches of the womanly kind:

“Though dozens of states are gearing up to ban women and girls from sports at the K-12 and collegiate level just because they are trans and are doing so under the deceptive rubric of proposed laws like the ‘Save Women’s Sports Act,’ they do not care abt women’s sports. Not one lawmaker who is pushing these bills — conceived and drafted in women’s sports, equal pay for women athletes, development of women’s coaches. Every women’s rights organization including @nwlc and @WoemnsSportsFdn opposes these laws. Elite women athletes like @mPinoe and @Candace Parker oppose these laws.”

Those laws sound like a Public Enemy; Chase is Fighting the Power:

“There is nothing close to trans dominance in athletics but there is a long history of state power being used to control the bodies of all women and weaponize notions of bodily purity and coherence to punish anyone who does not conform to binary norms of sex difference.”

The attorney’s in luck: According to The Washington Post,Biden’s Ambitious LGBT Agenda Poises Him to Be Nation’s Most Pro-Equality President in History.”

From JoeBiden.com:

On his first day in office, Biden will reinstate the Obama-Biden guidance revoked by the Trump-Pence Administration, which will restore transgender students’ access to sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms in accordance with their gender identity. He will direct his Department of Education to vigorously enforce and investigate violations of transgender students’ civil rights.

Not everyone’s convinced of the president-elect’s commitment to equality:

But some are certainly sold:

Back to Chase, the ACLU wholly has its employee’s back.

The organization’s previously debunked Four Myths About Trans Athletes:

FACT: Including trans athletes will benefit everyone.
MYTH: The participation of trans athletes hurts cis women.

FACT: Trans athletes do not have an unfair advantage in sports.
MYTH: Trans athletes’ physiological characteristics provide an unfair advantage over cis athletes.

FACT: Trans girls are girls.
MYTH: Sex is binary, apparent at birth, and identifiable through singular biological characteristics.

FACT: Trans people belong on the same teams as other students.
MYTH: Trans students need separate teams.

Per The Daily Wire, Chase Strangio “works for the [ACLU] in New York and identifies as transgender.”

Stay tuned; surely much more’s to come.

Starting — if Joe’s true to his word — on January 21st.
