In Los Angeles, it’s lights out for those who don’t listen to the mayor.
In case you’ve not heard, LA’s in the midst of a heat wave. And if you haven’t before felt the West Coast’s severe summer simmer, imagine there’s an oven heated to 350 degrees.
And your spleen is inside.
Nonetheless, on Wednesday, Mayor Eric Garcetti shut off some residents’ power — and, therefore, their AC.
Why? Public health and safety.
As reported by The Daily Wire, a group of TikTok personalities share an abode in the Hollywood Hills. And according to police, they’ve recently hosted at least two shameless shindigs.
That, of course, goes against the city’s COVID clampdown.
Compliments of the Los Angeles Times, Eric explained:
“Despite several warnings, this house has turned into a nightclub in the hills, hosting large gatherings in flagrant violation of our public health orders.”
And the mayor doesn’t play:
“The city has now disconnected utilities at this home to stop these parties that endanger our community.”
After the service interruption, Bill Melugin of Fox News LA went out to the house and took photos of numerous notices against the naughty nonsense:
“NEW: Just stopped by the #HollywoodHills rental home of TikTok star #BryceHall, whose power has been shut off by order of LA Mayor Eric Garcetti for throwing large parties against #COVID19 health orders. Several notices of non compliance posted at the property.”
In defense of the city, at least one sign indicated “Final Notice”:

In a statement Wednesday, Mayor Eric reiterated that people have to mask up and stay away from each other:
“[If] we wish to reopen more businesses, return our kids to school, or get back to our normal lives, we must continue to wear masks, wash our hands frequently, and as we’re emphasizing today, avoid gathering with others. All of these actions save lives.”
Via Twitter, he promoted pulling the plug on Bryce and his partying pals:
“Today I authorized the City to disconnect utility service at a house in the Hollywood Hills to stop the large parties held there in flagrant violation of our public health orders. Parties like these can quickly and easily spread the virus and put our communities at risk.”

In case you’re unfamiliar with Bryce Hall, he’s this guy (Language Warning for some of the video content):
Apparently, that gets you into the Hollywood Hills.
And this is — it appears — one of the aforementioned affairs:
Bryce Hall and Sway House throw massive party in Hollywood Hills with over a hundred people. The Sway boys recently moved from Bel Air to a secluded house in the Hollywood Hills. Party was broken by LAPD around 4am. This is a long thread. What are your thoughts @MayorOfLA? pic.twitter.com/FytCysK2E9

Here’s a clip of one bash being crashed by cops — but not the normal kind:
Here is a male stripper Bryce Hall hired or whoever… California has 600k confirmed cases, that number is about to sky rocket, I hope these few nights of partying was worth taking the lives that are gonna be gone #cancelbrycehall pic.twitter.com/bnzCLrP8Sz

And here’s the crew being served a bit of What For by the Powers That Be:

At this point, you may or may not be upset the electricity was cut. But here’s something to consider, as relayed by the Wire:
The decision to shut down utilities at the house comes amidst a 5-day heat wave in the Southern California region, according to NBC Los Angeles. The Los Angeles mayor has responded to, in part, by advertising designated “cooling centers” available in the city on Twitter.
He tweeted as much:
“Our cooling centers remain open through Thursday to help vulnerable Angelenos stay cool during the #LAHeat. Physical distancing, mask wearing and other COVID-19 safety measures are in place. For locations and hours, please go to http://Emergency.LACity.org/Heat.”

Earlier this month, Eric indicated enforcement of LA’s no-party policy would focus on folks “determined to break the rules” instead of “small and ordinary gatherings in people’s homes.”
But where’s the line drawn, and who might be next?
The Wire notes, “[The mayor] did not provide a clear distinction between the two, which seemingly leaves the policy with room for interpretation.”
Los Angeles isn’t your normal town, and California’s not your normal state. The place is shut down, and it’ll stay shut down. Unless everyone…shuts down.
So if you’re anywhere near Tinseltown and dare to party hardy, you may soon be a sweat-drenched nudist living in the dark.
Stay safe out there, West Coasters. And cool. And away from each other.
