I can’t say for sure, but just going on their actions and remarks, I believe the majority of people who protest capitalism don’t know what it is.

And I suspect the bulk of those promoting socialism are equally unaware.

Then again, why would anyone shout about something without first learning the meaning of the words? Perhaps I need to rethink it.

Meanwhile, a government organization is helping enforce consistency.

In late June, as noted by The Daily Wire, Black Lives Matter activists marched through Beverly Hills chanting, “Abolish capitalism, now!”

And early in the month, group members in Los Angeles told rally attendees to “disrupt white capitalism.”

Well, on Sunday, wishes came true.

As per a July 12th post from Justin Hinton of ABC News, “Vendors have set up shop along Black Lives Matter Plaza for what appears to be the last time.”

Here’s why:

“Someone with DCRA was passing out this flyer saying ‘agencies will begin active enforcement of vending regulations …’ starting Monday. There’s also a no-vending sign. @ABC7News.”

Courtesy of the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs’ notice:

Pursuant to DC DCMR Title 24 §502.1, §524.1and §524.2,the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and other District agencies will begin active enforcement of vending regulations in and around the following areas as of Monday, July 13, 2020.

Did any of the protestors realize that’s what they were chanting to be abolished…everywhere?

Quick economics brushup:

Capitalism: A system based on a free-market economy in which an individual may own his or her own business.

Socialism: An economic system in which the government — not individuals — owns all products and means of production.

Could we airdrop flyers of the above onto every major American city? I may be wrong, but I suspect it might affect rapid change.

As for the DCRA notice, “Any person found vending on or after July 13, 2020, will be subject to fines/penalties in an amount up to $2,093.00.”

Protestors fined, it would seem, should be happy to pony up their penance for indulging in the evil system they purportedly desire to destroy.

For more on that, here’s what BLM Lead Organizer Dr. Melina Abdullah wrote in 2018:

“In addition to investing in our own communities, #BlackXmas and the emerging economic empowerment work of Black Lives Matter is intended as a divestment from White corporations that contribute to the murder, death, abuse, and exploitation of Black people in real terms. We assert that White capitalism is killing our people in very real terms, most starkly through its utilization of a violent, racist, police force to protect its quest for profit.

Black people, we must be radical in our approach, daring to get to the root of it all. White capitalism requires racist, violent policing to protect it. In order to eliminate police violence, and the killings of our people at their hands, we must also target the economic systems that built it and rely on it.”

Plus — as I’ve recently pointed out — in 2015, BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors had this to say about herself and co-founder Alicia Garza:

“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories.”

Marxism Matters?

Someone should go into business for themselves and sell T-shirts promoting such a core tenet.

If only they could…but that’d be capitalism.

Oh, well. Maybe one day the government will do it.
