The coronavirus has changed the world. And every now and then, something new pops up to punctuate the breadth of its reach.
If you’re looking for one of those, you might wanna stop off at your local Wendy’s.
The beefy burger joint’s had to curtail its offerings, based on a shortage of beefy burger. Thanks, COVID-19.
Fox News lays it out:
Fast-food chain Wendy’s is taking burgers off the menu in some locations as the U.S. deals with a meat shortage traced back to the coronavirus.
It’s a bit like Captain D’s taking off fish (and if you don’t know what Captain D’s is, I truly feel sorry for you).
Wendy’s served up a statement:
As you’ve likely heard, beef suppliers across North America are currently facing production challenges. Because of this, some of our menu items may be in short supply from time to time at some restaurants in this current environment.
But they’re trying:
We continue to supply hamburgers to all of our restaurants, with deliveries two or three times a week. We’re working diligently to minimize the impact to our customers and restaurants, and continue to work with our supplier partners to monitor this closely.
Try as they may, for now, cow-cravin’ customers are being deprived of protein:
@Wendys Is there a beef shortage for Wendy's? Just had to change an entire online order in the drive thru…no beef available!

My husband went to @Wendys the other night and they said you can’t get double burgers. Rationing.

Eastern Kentucky’s feelin’ it. The region’s WYMT reported a shortage at the location in Hazard.
Of course, it isn’t just Wendy’s being affected by a pandemic pummeling — due to meat plant closures in Canada, McDonald’s recently announced it would have to import its beef. Franchisees to the north had to un-menu their Angus burger.
And there’s this:

But perhaps the woes of Wendy’s are a bit more poignant.
After all, we all know the campaign:
