Bill Maher once admitted he’d been wrong about George W. Bush, who was, in reality, an “honorable [man].” But Trump, he said, is different: He’s really bad.
Well, what the heck — Attorney General Bill Barr knows Bush Sr. and America’s favorite billionaire totalitarian leader, and he likes Trump even better: Despite anything we seem to have heard from the other side, Donald Trump…get this…listens to people.
Bill guested on SiriusXM’s The Catholic Channel’s Conversation with Cardinal Dolan to talk about the differences. Alongside him: Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and co-host Father Dave Dwyer.
Here’s what Mr. Barr had to say:
“They’re very different. I love both men. H.W. was more low-key. He had a very strong interest in foreign policy, in which he really focuses attention on.”
If you’ve ever wondered how the President works, here it is:
“He’ll bring people in to explain things to them. He’ll reach down and bring the experts in…and he listens.”
What?!
Why would a fascistic dictator listen to anyone? To hear the media tell it, Trump doesn’t even have ears.
Why, he only has eyes to see what race people are.
Here’s another shock:
“He’s very easy to work with. He has a good sense of humor.”
Satan? Amicable?
He offered one that sounds right, though:
“He’s very direct.”
Roger that.
Here’s something, too: In public, the President is “very much what you see in private.”
The thing I dislike about politics is, likely, the same thing that grates on you: the phony baloney nature of it.
But Attorney General Bill says Donald Trump — whatever you think of him — is genuine:
“He doesn’t have two different acts that he puts on. He’s much more engaged than people give him credit for, and he’s a strong leader. He is getting things done. I just sometimes say if he wasn’t facing the resistance that he is and the dogged opposition that he faces, you just wonder how much more he could accomplish because he’s accomplished a lot in the face of great resistance.”
How much, indeed.
