Here’s something you don’t see every day: Al Sharpton pointing out a great economy as part of a Trump triumph.
Not that he was trying to.
On Friday, Al appeared as a panel guest on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Sharpton agreed that it’s important to have “a fair trial” in the Senate, but — in his view — voters are more interested in the economy. And that includes Democrats:
“[I] think voters really that are struggling — which are a lot of the base, which is a lot of base of the Democratic Party — are really trying to deal with kitchen-table issues. That’s what we’ve got to address, particularly while you have a president that’s bragging about the economy. Right now, we cannot say with any comfort that Donald Trump would not be re-elected. That should make us uncomfortable.”
The Donald’s never had reluctant lips when it comes to tooting his own horn, and he’s certainly spotlighted the thriving economy and historic low unemployment rates among black Americans:
The Greatest Economy in American History!

Under the Trump Administration, African American unemployment is the lowest (best) in the history of the United States. No President has come close to doing this before! I also created successful Opportunity Zones. Waiting for Nancy and Elijah to say, “Thank you, Mr. President!”

Some in the media wanna make sure the Prez doesn’t take too much credit.
Therefore, for July, APNews.com ran “AP FACT CHECK: Trump Exaggerates His Role in Black Job Gains,” where it offered the following:
Trump is seeking credit he doesn’t deserve for black job growth. He’s also wrong to assert that Democrats haven’t done anything to improve the economic situation for African Americans.
In March, The Washington Post schooled America on “Trump’s Outdated Spin on the Black Unemployment Rate.”
But low is low. And black Americans aren’t the only ones seeing a spike.
From The Daily Caller:
Hispanic Americans and women are also experiencing high employment levels that are virtually unprecedented. The recent passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA) is also expected to spur further economic growth.
Al thinks Dems oughta be makin’ themselves about the money.
He’s right.
For his party, it seems to me that the impeachment push has brought nothingness. It’s been a pause in government so we can watch opposing sides take their positions as opposing sides. Beyond that, if anything, I believe it’s electrified Trump’s base.
I’m not sure why Democrats seem to have forgotten they’re salesmen: Their job in politics — same for the GOP — is to come to the right conclusions on issues and then sell the American public on the superiority of those policies.
They appear to have abandoned that purpose for a full-time attack on a guy who’s only here temporarily. Meanwhile, they may be doing damage to themselves that will last far longer than two presidential terms.
Strange that they need Al Sharpton to point anything out to them.
But this is where we are.
