On Friday, California made a considerable stride in the effort to mix social politics and public education: It passed a bill mandating every state-sponsored university to provide students with abortion pills.
Meet bill SB-24:
Because abortion by medication techniques is both a recognized treatment for the medical condition of pregnancy and a health service every pregnant person in the state has the legal right to choose, it is the intent of the Legislature that public university student health centers make abortion by medication techniques as accessible and cost effective for students as possible … On and after January 1, 2023, each public university student health center shall offer abortion by medication techniques onsite. This service may be performed by providers on staff at the student health center, through telehealth services, or by providers associated with a contracted external agency.
But the legislation has yet to be signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Can you guess whether he’ll push such a proposal into law? Let’s peer into the mind of the governor…

And the LA Times recently ran “California Gov. Gavin Newsom Calls for Nationwide Background Checks on Ammo Purchases.”
Give up?
He’s for it.
Gavin’s already supported a previous version of the bill. In 2018, as noted by The Daily Wire, he told the San Francisco Chronicle, “I would have supported that. I have long supported that. I subscribe to Planned Parenthood and NARAL’s position on that.”
As reported by The Daily Mail, SB-24 creator Connie Leyva championed the state’s attention to women’s health:
“In a time when states across our country are rolling back women’s healthcare and access to abortion, California continues to lead the nation to protect every individual’s right to choose…SB-24 reaffirms the right of every college student to access abortion. By ensuring that abortion care is available on campus, college students will not have to choose between delaying important medical care or having to travel long distances or miss classes or work.”
California’s not only offering abortion, but it’s virtually delivering it to the door of the country’s future. And thus continues the state’s pioneering role in a national move to the Left.
Of course, Georgia and Alabama have a few things to say about that.
