There’s debate brewin’ in the land of Don Ho.
Over girls volleyball.
As reported by LifeSiteNews, the Hawaii High School Athletic Association allows boys to participate in girls sports if they so identify.
But when a dude showed up with the Kamehameha Schools Maui girls team at a tournament in Pukalani, one team’s coach spoke out against it.
The coach — who wished to remain anonymous — explained to the The Maui News that it puts girls at risk:
“In my opinion, it’s very irresponsible for the league to place these young women, who are minors, in an elevated level of risk. They all sign off on an assumption of risk form for an understandable amount of risk. Now, there’s an elevated level of risk their daughters are going through and being put through without any notification to the parents at all.”
How terrible must the woke mob be for an athletic coach to request anonymity in order to simply say he doesn’t think dudes should compete against chicks?
The coach assured he’s cool with alternate identity; he only wants girls to be safe:
“I have no problem with the kid being who (they) want to be, but now these girls are being put in an unsafe situation without giving the parents the opportunity to make an educated decision on whether they want their daughter in that position.”
The athletic director for Kamehameha had no comment:
“I’m not going to say anything about our transgender athlete.”
HHSAA Executive Director Chris Chun, who wrote the actual policy adopted in 2017, said it’s a work in progress:
“I don’t feel comfortable getting into specifics or a specific sport, but safety is always a concern and competitive advantage is also a concern. Even though we have a policy, it’s kind of like a guideline. It’s still in its early, early transition stages.”
How about just have separate sports for guys and girls and call it a day? That’s simple, safe, and fair.
Isn’t’ it?
Not to Tiare Sua — a man identifying as a woman who works for the Maui AIDS foundation. He told the outlet it’s sexist to suggest men are stronger than women:
“I feel that females are stronger than men think. I don’t like to degrade women as thinking that they are weaker than men.”
Does he also not like to degrade them by thinking they are smaller and have fewer penises (0 compared to 1)?
This, of course, is self-evident. But, as The Daily Wire points out, some disagree.
Last week, MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing resisted a doctor’s claim that there are two sexes.
Here’s what he had to say:
“We’ve got an important question now. What does it mean to be a mainstream Republican? It is the question that some Republicans have been asking in the age of Donald Trump, and increasingly, it seems the answer might be to make incendiary comments about women and members of the LGBT community. In Louisiana, the Republican candidate for governor, (Dr.) Ralph Abraham, is out with a new TV ad this week making incendiary comments about gender.”
Ralph’s comment:
“I can assure you there are only two genders.”
Personally, I’m a firm believer in freedom of expression. And if a man aches to put on lipstick, a dress, and Candies shoes, I think he should do it. You only have one life; live it as your convictions compel.
That should, in my view, be wholly removed from the arena of athletics. Sports concern one single thing: physicality. Therefore, for the sake of not only safety but reasonable fairness, allowing women to compete against women makes the most common of sense.
But not to everyone.
