On Friday, a man from Toledo was charged with launching threats against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He’d been stockpiling ammunition, and a Facebook post stated the 29-year-old freshman congresswoman “should be shot.”
That’s definitely a good way to get some negative attention.
According to the Toledo Blade, the 41-year-old was also charged with “being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a fugitive in possession of a firearm, and making interstate threats.”
He could get 25 years in prison — that’s 10 years each for two firearms charges and a 5-year sentence for the threat.
On July 23rd, Capitol Police were provided with a screenshot from social media:
“She should be shot. Can’t fire me, my employer would load the gun for me.”
In a phone call, the man told the CP he had guns and always carried them concealed. He also confirmed “he was very proud of that post he made,” as per the filed complaint.
This isn’t AOC’s first time to be singled out.
As reported by The Daily Wire:
She was previously included on a hit list compiled by a self-proclaimed white nationalist…who was arrested in February. Hasson had read the manifesto of Anders Behring Breivik, a right-wing terrorist who murdered 77 people in Norway in 2011. The former U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant also included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), whom he referred to as “Sen blumen jew,” on the list.
Of course, politicians on both sides of the aisle are the recipient of disdain from coast to coast, and Republicans have been doxxed, harassed, threatened…and in 2017, a left-wing nutjob attacked a D.C. softball game. Among four shot, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was critically injured.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Congressional Baseball team and staff. This morning's actions have no place in our country.

The media haven’t seemed too interested in that event, but The New York Times did manage the August 5th op-ed “Conservatism Has a Violence Problem,” which included the quote “Right-wing extremist violence is our biggest threat” by Anti-Defamation League National Director Jonathan Greenblatt.
Nevermind the Dayton massacre, as covered by RedState’s Bonchie: “NEW: The Dayton Shooter Was A Satanist, Leftist-Socialist, And Bernie/Warren Fan, Supported Antifa.”
Of course, evil is evil, whether red or blue. And talk of dastardly deeds is bad for the country.
Civility is an American value, and it’s one we must maintain. Our liberty came, at a time, through armed revolution. But in order to keep it, we must lay down our weapons of vitriol and violence. Otherwise, the bad guys win.
