Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Touts Eradicating Homeland Security - George W. Bush's 'Egregious Mistake'

During a New Yorker Radio Hour interview made public Tuesday, everyone’s favorite 29-year-old congresswoman bent on America following the economic regime of the Nazis said she’s open to eradicating the Department of Homeland Security.

According to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the W. Bush administration’s creation of the agency was an “egregious mistake.”

Perhaps the idea of removing it sounds radically unwise in a left-wing sort of way. And opposing a Bush directive has more than a fair shot at being partisan fluff; but conservative G. Gordon Liddy was never fond of W’s Patriot Act. So there’s that.

Witness:

“Because the core structure of ICE, I believe — and frankly the entire Department of Homeland Security — this was established by George Bush right in the wake of 9/11, right as the Patriot Act and all of these different institutions that were frankly very large threats to American civil liberties started to get established.”

So it’s just another way to accomplish open borders?

Could be.

Sometimes the problem with radicals is…they’re radical.

Host David Remnick asked for clarity — would she do away with DHS?

Her reply:

“I think so. I think we need to undo a lot of the egregious … a lot of the egregious mistakes that the Bush administration did.

“I feel like we are, at a very, it’s a very qualified and supported position, at least in terms of evidence, and in terms of being able to make the argument that we never should have created DHS in the early 2000s.”

So what’s the reasonable way to go about things? Apparently, it’s to make law about…harm. Alexandria explained that the government should get out of the business of detaining people. Unless, that is, they’ve hurt someone.

Sounds like you won’t have to pay taxes anymore. Or stop at stop signs if there’s no one coming. Or go through background checks to buy a gun. Or do any of the things called for by the Green New Deal.

Actually — if there are no taxes paid, there can be no socialism. Maybe she’s onto something.

But it also sounds like illegal immigration will no longer be illegal.

Or better yet, enjoy some antics from nothing-if-not-interesting syndicated radio host, actor, author, and Mr. Watergate himself — George Gordon Liddy — below. Bonus: Liddy with Whoopi, and Don Rickles. Best of all: the “vigorous, virile and potent” Fear Factor contestant on Miami Vice. For more Gordon, here’s a link to the former FBI agent on The Opie Anthony show (I won’t embed, due to language).

Once you’ve enjoyed those, let us all know: Issues of illegal immigration aside, should the Department of Homeland Security be abolished? Could it be replaced by something better?
