Is Nancy Pelosi on the outs? Has she become that pair of bell bottoms at the bottom of the drawer, held down by stacks of parachute pants?
Tucker Carlson thinks so.
He said as much, in his Monday night monologue.
“After almost 200 years,” he began…
Oh, wait — I thought that was how long she’s been in Congress. But he was talking about political goals:
“After almost 200 years, the Democrats were a political party with conventional political goals. That’s no longer true. The Democratic Party is now a religious cult, with all that implies. Dissent has been banned. Anyone who questions the party’s leftward fringe is denounced as a racist heretic.”
That doesn’t sound wrong.
He was, of course, referring to the new blood — and new ideas — in the House, courtesy of left-of-Left Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar (here).
A summary:
“The party has descended into a purity spiral, and nobody is safe, not even the party’s own leaders. Take Nancy Pelosi, for example. She is the most left-wing Speaker of the House in the history of the United States. She has been a fire-breathing liberal for longer than, I don’t know, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been alive.
“But none of that has been enough to save her. Ocasio-Cortez and a tiny group of House freshmen demand explicit socialism in this country right now. They want to open the borders, empty the prisons and take over the entire U.S. economy in the name of fighting climate change.”
Quite right — the new leaders appear, more than ever before — despite Dems’ constant characterization of der Führer Trump — of the mind that they should rule you. That’s what socialism is: It puts all the power in the hands of the handful of government agents. They own all products and means of production. You may not own a business; you may not choose how and when to spend your money according to the best offerings. Your finances are extracted, and you get what you get — which is to say, whatever they decide you should get.
And, Tucker asserted, those currently vying for the position of disproportionate ruler don’t know much:
“[P]elosi may agree with [their left-wing] goals, but she has contempt for their total ignorance of how laws are made. They’re against the democratic system itself, and Pelosi has expressed that contempt repeatedly in public.”
Indeed, there was recently a potent put-down (here) by “the wall is an immorality” Nancy (here). And, as Tucker displayed for the Fox audience, it went this way on 60 Minutes:
Lesley Stahl: You have these wings, AOC and her group on one side.
Pelosi: That’s like five people.
Tucker went on:
“[F]or saying things like that, Pelosi is facing a revolt from within the Democratic Party. She’s being denounced. Guess what they’re calling her? You know … a racist.
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib explains that Pelosi is oppressing people of color.
Cue a snippet of Rashida:
“More people like us — people of color — have been missing in the [House] chamber, because most of us — and Ayanna Pressley says it more beautifully — people that are closest to the pain need to be at the table making these decisions. Guess what? We know what it feels like to be dehumanized. We know what it feels like to be brown and black in this country.”
What’s with their increasing obsession over the non-white races?
From a clip:
Martha Raddatz, ABC News: What would you say to Nancy Pelosi? What would you say directly to Nancy Pelosi?
Tlaib: Uplift the women, especially the women of color, within your caucus that are out there. Because I’ll tell you, more people like us, more people like me, that come out to vote [means] we win. All of us win.
All of us?
I hope MLK is somewhere right now where he has plenty of room to roll over…
Tucker observed:
“‘Give us power because of our skin color.’ That’s the argument Tlaib is making. Many make that argument; Ocasio-Cortez made the very same case during her Democratic primary campaign last year.”
So where do Nancy and Joe Biden fit into this new world?
Well, to hear Tucker tell it, they don’t:
“Like Pelosi, Biden has dedicated his entire life to the Democratic Party. As Pelosi has, Biden has dutifully moved left with the party over the years and hasn’t complained about it. He is currently running on, for example, free health care for illegal aliens.
“It’s over for Joe Biden — a bitter end to what might have been a decent political career. Only he seems to be unaware of that. On Saturday, Biden groveled one last time in a doomed effort to save himself.”
He’s most likely right. Joe’s too conservative to fit in with the cool kids. Plus, he’s so old, he lived during a time when he could — and did — say this (here):
“My gut reaction is that [homosexuals] are security risks…”
And what about Nancy? Sure — she’s got the pedigree of saying completely buffoonish things (here) and being a living ode to hypocrisy (here), but that ain’t enough.
But, as Tucker pointed out, mainstream America isn’t into the fads and fables of the House’s “Fresh Face Caucus“:
“Normal Americans know they’re not racist. They don’t think their neighbors and friends are racist, either. They don’t care about that. They care about their jobs, their safety, their families, their country.”
Nevertheless, that ain’t woke. And according to Tucker, as far as some of the new kids in Congress are concerned, Nancy and Joe might as well be America’s great aunt and uncle — mouths wide open — collapsed into their recliners after Thanksgiving dinner: They’re old, and they’re asleep.
