You know who’s super hateful? Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro.
The mere mention of his name probably has you quaking in your boots. You can just smell the sinister ooze.
It’ll be okay — flip on all the lights. Turn on the TV. Sometimes when I’m spooked, it helps if I call my parents.
And you should know you’re not alone: On Tuesday night, in response to Ben’s scheduled spring speech at Loyola Marymount University, associate professor Dr. Nina Lozano went bonkers.
I’m talkin’ ’bout this lady:
She looks like the kinda gal who’d bring you a welcoming basket of freshly-baked muffins when you move in next door. But I could be wrong.
And here we go:
“Ben Shapiro espouses hate speech, and is linked to numerous hate groups. As a LMU Professor, I will be organizing protests, and alerting the media of LMU’s decision to support hate speech–which is completely antithetical to our University Mission.”

Hate speech!
A few things to note:
- Ben doesn’t espouse hate speech, nor is he linked to “hate groups.”
- Hate is an emotion; what is usually labeled “hate speech,” it seems, is merely speech that someone doesn’t like.
- Speech — not just speech people like, and not just speech unaccompanied by hateful emotion — is protected by the First Amendment, and that’s an American virtue.
Is the University Mission to prevent free speech, or just the speech of people Nina’s mondo down on (or doesn’t know anything about)?
And what kind of person is Dr. Lozano? Well, she’s this kind of person:
“[A] queer Latinx political consultant, activist and Associate Professor…”
So says her Twitter page.
Also says her Huffington Post author page.
By the way, “latinx,” is “part of a ‘linguistic revolution’ that aims to move beyond gender binaries and is inclusive of the intersecting identities of Latin American descendants. In addition to men and women from all racial backgrounds, Latinx also makes room for people who are trans, queer, agender, non-binary, gender non-conforming or gender fluid.”
How are they Latin if they’re “from all racial backgrounds?”
No matter the answer, she’s changin’ the world, folks. By usin’ an X.
Speaking of X, here’s more on Nina striking out with her facts. As pointed out by The Daily Wire:
It’s ironic that Lozano should describe Shapiro as “linked to numerous hate groups”: as has been amply documented, in 2017, the Anti-Defamation League conducted a study in which it examined 19,253 explicitly anti-Semitic Twitter messages tagging roughly 800 reporters and editors, and found that the top target by a wide margin was Shapiro, who was tagged in over 7,400 of the tweets, roughly 38% of the total and roughly four times as many as any other journalist.
On the subject of Ben, the professor is staggeringly uneducated. Sadly, she’ll most likely keep her commitment and trumpet ignorance, spreading it to students who are equally or vastly more want of brain. In case you haven’t noticed, “research” isn’t on the mind of the average social justice warrior. They’re more comfortable with concepts such as rage, indignation, and hysteria, while their revved-up, sign-holding bodies sit upon go for implosion due to an informational vacuum. POP!
(here, here, here, here, and here.)
Odds are that’s where we’re headed: a springtime rally full of shouting people who can’t define or explain the things — terms or ideas — they’re yelling about.
But that’s okay; Ben’s used to it.
And besides: Monsters know no fear.
